The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds for the Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of Mid North districts.
A vigorous west-southwesterly airstream combined with isolated thunderstorms will affect southeast areas of the state today.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS, with peak gusts around 90 to 100 km/h, are forecast about the southeast of the state today, including parts of the Mount Lofty ranges and Kangaroo Island.
Winds are expected to develop about Kangaroo Island and Fleurieu Peninsula during this morning, and extend to remaining areas during the afternoon.
These conditions are expected to ease during this evening.
Locations which may be affected include Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, Kingscote, Naracoorte, Meningie and Bordertown.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am ACST Saturday.
