Happy Valley moved another step closer to securing their spot in the finals after defeating Port Noarlunga by six points during round 12 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. Port Noarlunga opened up a handy 20-point lead at halftime and still led by 18 points at the last change. The Vikings didn’t lie down, kicking five goals to one in the final term, to record a great comeback win 10.14 (74) to 10.8 (68). Corey Grocock and Nathan May kicked two goals each for Happy Valley, while Oliver Petrohilos slotted five majors for Port Noarlunga. Best players for the Vikings included Harry Vick, May, Hayden Kari, Tain Smelt and Jack Flett. Best for ‘Porties’ were Phil Brown, Anthony Dempsey, Billy Cook, Chris Black and Tom Redden.Flagstaff Hill remain undefeated after a comprehensive 104-point win against Christies Beach. The Falcons led at every change before running out winners 18.24 (132) to 4.4 (28). ‘Flaggies’ had 10 different goalkickers with Sam Jacobs kicking five majors (36 for the season). Reigning premier Willunga won their eighth game in a row in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition after defeating Myponga-Sellicks by 62 points at Strathalbyn on Sunday. Willunga played a strong first half to lead by 37 points at the long break. A further four goals to one in the second half saw the Demons run out winners 12.9 (81) to 3.1 (19). Jessica Harris, Lauren Clifton, Tamara Page, Sarah Wright and Ellen Tyminski all kicked two goals for Willunga, as did Kailey Webb for the Mudlarks. Best players for the Demons included Clifton, Katrice Turner, Kirstin Remfrey, Tessa Kohn and Tyminski. Myponga-Sellicks were best served by Carla Humphrys, Webb, Charlotte Collins, Elsie Upton and Molly Agnew.McLaren Districts won their eighth game of the season with a 73-point win last Friday night against Victor Harbor. The Falcons led at every change before winning 4.5 (29) to 1.9 (15). Emily Brockhurst kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance for ‘Flaggies’ and she was well supported by Bella Nicholls-Newman, Chloe Meyers, Alana Baker, Indianna Roberts and Rachel Crockart. Best players for the Cobras included Ashleigh Need, Georgia Hayford, Makayla Brown, Tamara Zerna and Kiarna Jackson.Reynella kept the pressure on for a top-two spot with a huge 199-point win against Hackham yesterday. The Wine Flies led by 59 points at quarter time, 97 points at halftime, and 140 points at the last change, before winning 29.25 (199) to 0.0 (0). Happy Valley consolidated their position in the top-five with a 20-point win against Aldinga during round 11 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Happy Valley yesterday. The first half was tight with Happy Valley taking a six-point lead to the long break. The second half was a low-scoring affair, with the Vikings kicking five goals to three, to run out winners 11.10 (76) to 8.8 (56). Josh Dwyer-Sterzl kicked three goals for Happy Valley, while Bailey Pilmore slotted four majors for Aldinga. Best players for the triumphant Vikings included Joel Beeche, Harry Vick, Tate Coleman, Ross Mullins and Jayden Little. Aldinga were best served by Tom Pilmore, Jack Langdon, Angus Stangewitz, Bailey Pilmore and Brady O’Hanlon. Premiership favourite Flagstaff Hill continued on their merry way with a 10th consecutive victory, this time by 66 points at home against Cove. It leaves Morphett Vale just percentage out of the top-five. Dylan Williams kicked three goals for Morphett Vale, as did Marc Borholm for the Wine Flies. McLaren Districts’ amazing run of 30 consecutive wins came to an end at the hands of local rival Willunga during round 11 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) yesterday. The Demons led all day as they won 13.16 (94) to 5.12 (42). Former AFL player Jack Redden was named best for Willunga and he was well supported by Sam Renney, Daniel Lee (4 goals), Danny Juckers and Braden Altus. Best players for McLaren Districts included Jamie Smith, Tom Fenoughty, Brett Ellis (3 goals), Tarak Redigolo and Elijah Ware.Goolwa/Port Elliot provided one of the upsets of the season after they defeated finals contender Mount Compass by 48 points at Goolwa. The Magpies won every quarter on their way to a 15.10 (100) to 8.4 (52) victory. The Magpies had nine different goalkickers with James Fry leading the way with three majors. Best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Ryan Carnelly, Daniel Fry, Jacob Hughes, Kosta Dekoning and Jye Bottroff. Goolwa/Port Elliot kept the pressure on for a top-two spot in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition after defeating Victor Harbor by 36 points at a wet and windy Encounter Bay on Sunday. The Magpies prevailed 5.8 (38) to 0.2 (2). Best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Renee Moon, Ellie Fry, Kerrie-ann Moon, Tessa Grant and Tayla Hoad.NB: At the time of publication, no best players had been supplied for Victor Harbor.McLaren Districts won their seventh game of the season following a 72-point win against Myponga-Sellicks at McLaren Vale last Friday night. Scores were level at 1.3 (9) apiece at quarter time, but from then on it was all McLaren Districts. The Eagles kicked 11 goals to zero in the final three quarters to win 12.11 (83) to 1.5 (11). Tiffany Copley (4), Kiahni Russell (3) and Layla Rogers (2) were the leading goalkickers for the Eagles, while Emily Steele kicked the Mudlarks only goal. Sarah Noble kicked two goals for the Shoes, while Charmaine Mulloy was the Hawks’ goalkicker.
