Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill moved back inside the top-four after a comprehensive 151-point win at Aldinga during round 14 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition on Sunday. The Falcons led by 73 points at halftime and kicked another 11 goals in the second half to win 22.19 (151) to 0.0 (0). Emily Brockhurst kicked eight goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Falcons, while Tanisha Hodgkison kicked three. Brockhurst has now kicked 50 goals for the season, including 29 in the last three games! Joining Brockhurst in the best players for ‘Flaggies’ were Ebony Scanlan, Elizabeth Johnson, Tia Taylor and Chloe Meyers. Best for Aldinga were Mackenzie Jones, Paige Curtin and Nikki Duggan. Port Noarlunga has all but secured the double chance after defeating Cove by 23 points at Port Noarlunga on Sunday. Cove started well, kicking the first two goals of the game, to lead by 11 points at quarter time. ‘Porties’ then kicked five unanswered goals in the remaining three quarters to win 5.7 (37) to 2.2 (14). Port Noarlunga vice-captain Samantha Lynch kicked three goals, while the Cobras’ goals were kicked by Kate Galley and Lauren Pattimore. Amber O’Hanlon was named best for the Cockle Divers and she was well supported by Tahlia McKew, Lynch, Bree Chapman and Shakira Dolman. Best for the Cobras included Lauren Kenny, Ashleigh Need, Jaime Norup, Ella Gill and Jasmine Dietrich.Noarlunga won their second game in a row after a 79-point victory over Aldinga at Old Noarlunga. Morphett Vale confirmed their spot in the 2023 finals series after a comfortable 66-point win against Aldinga during round 16 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Aldinga on Saturday. The Emus won every quarter on the way to a 13.8 (86) to 3.2 (20) victory. Daniel Noble (4), Blake Carter (3), Khori Mills-Richardson (3) and Brian Gill (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Emus, while Cameron Jarrett and Bailey Pilmore were the goalkickers for the Sharks. Best players for Morphett Vale included Gill, Aiden Baker, Harry Clarkson, Connor Lock and Mills-Richardson. Best players for Aldinga were Ryder Kortman, Angus Stangewitz, Sam Bentley, Josiah Sheppard and Pilmore.Port Noarlunga won their fifth game of the season after defeating Christies Beach by 65 points. The win was set up for ‘Porties’ in the second quarter as they kicked five unanswered goals to lead by a handy 35 points at halftime. A further eight goals to four in the second half saw Port Noarlunga win 15.14 (104) to 6.3 (39). Russell Curyer and Oliver Petrohilos kicked three goals each for the Cockle Divers, while their best players included Jonathon Cook, Jayden Close, James Wood, Tom Dix and Curyer. Willunga made it three FP-AG Great Southern Football League ‘A’ Grade Women’s (GSFLW) flags in a row yesterday after they defeated Yankalilla/Encounter Bay by 36 points in the Grand Final at Goolwa. The Demons lost just one game for the season and are the dominant force in the GSFLW. Yankalilla/Encounter Bay, in their first season in the competition as a merged entity, did a great job to come from fourth position on the ladder to reach the decider, but ultimately fell short against the powerhouse Demons. Yesterday, the first quarter was tight with scores locked away at 1.0 (6) apiece at the first change. The Demons put on three unanswered goals in the second term to take a handy 18-point lead to halftime, and kicked another two goals in the second half to run out winners 6.8 (44) to 1.2 (8). Jessica Harris kicked two goals for Willunga, while Molly Watters kicked the only goal for the Stingrays. Best players for Willunga included best-on-ground Cleo Guilfoyle, Tessa Kohn, Lauren Clifton, Emma Leask, Kiara Upitis and Katrice Turner. Mount Compass has all but secured their finals berth for 2023 after defeating Encounter Bay by 15 points during round 16 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at Mount Compass on Saturday. In a low-scoring game, ‘Compass’ won 8.6 (54) to 6.3 (39). Joss Davis, Lochie Nash and Ziggy Vitkunas all kicked two goals for the Bulldogs, while their best players were Klaus Simons, Tom Vitkunas, Ziggy Vitkunas, Nash and Jordan Hooper. Best players for the Bays included James Bradford, Tyler Baldock, Tate Walker, Maxi Collins and Lachlan Williams.Reigning premier McLaren Districts got back in the winners circle after a comprehensive 146-point victory against Goolwa/Port Elliot. The game was tight at quarter time with the Eagles ahead by just four points. McLaren Districts put the game away with a 10-goal second term to take a match-winning 61-point lead at halftime. A further 17 goals to three in the second half saw the Eagles win 30.15 (195) to 7.7 (49). Codey Ellison was a star up forward with 10 goals for the Eagles, while Matthew Merrett kicked six. Less than a goal separated the sides at the end of each quarter before ‘Christies’ prevailed 6.3 (39) to 5.5 (35). Neriah Mills kicked three goals for Christies Beach, while teammate Chelsea Salvemini kicked two. Port Noarlunga had all individual goalkickers. Best players for the Saints included Tallara Power, Paige Simmons, Salvemini, Mills and Naomi Jones. Victor Harbor showed off their premiership credentials with an excellent 52-point win against reigning premier McLaren Districts during round 15 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at McLaren Vale yesterday. It was the fifth consecutive win for ‘Victor’, and puts them in a great position to secure the all-important double chance with finals just four weeks away. Yesterday, the ‘Roos started well to lead by 23 points at quarter time, and after an even second term, their lead was still 23 points at halftime. The third term would prove crucial as Victor Harbor kicked five unanswered goals to take a commanding 52-point lead at the last change, before they went on to win 16.14 (110) to 8.10 (58). Jackson Elmes (4), Daniel Stock (4) and Michael Ross (3) were the multiple goalkickers for 'Victor', while Codey Ellison kicked three majors for the Eagles. Best players for the ‘Roos included Zac Dowling, Jesse McKinnon, Elmes, Rhys Mutch and Ryan Fletcher. Christies Beach moved a step closer to wrapping up the all-important double chance after defeating Reynella by 15 points during round 12 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition yesterday. The first half was tight with Reynella holding a slender four-point lead at halftime. ‘Christies’ came out firing in the third quarter, kicking three goals to none, before running out winners 5.4 (34) to 3.1 (19). Reigning premiers Willunga are through to another grand final after a comprehensive 72-point win over McLaren Districts at Encounter Bay in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition yesterday. The Demons led by 16 points at quarter time, 20 points at halftime, and 36 points at the last change, before winning 9.18 (72) to 0.0 (0). Sarah Wright kicked three goals for Willunga, while Lauren Clifton kicked two. Best players for the Demons included Clifton, Ada Anninos, Abby Woodward, Kirstin Remfrey and Wright. McLaren Districts were best served by Sam Pratt, Ally Bailey, Katrina Munzberg, Kiera Harvey and Emily Rowe.Yankalilla/Encounter Bay are through to the preliminary final after a thrilling six-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot in the knockout semi-final yesterday. Myponga-Sellicks won their 10th game of the season after defeating reigning premier McLaren Districts by 47 points at Myponga during round 14 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) yesterday. The Mudlarks led by 28 points at halftime, before kicking five goals to two in the second half, to win 11.8 (74) to 4.3 (27). Sam Kennedy kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance for Myponga-Sellicks, while Matthew Merrett kicked two goals for the Eagles. Joining Kennedy in the best players for the Mudlarks were Thomas Carroll, Anthony Kempster, Luke Whitford and Jake Spinks. Best players for McLaren Districts included Tom Fenoughty, Stuart Green, Jackson Daniels, Billy Chahla and Todd McKay.Langhorne Creek kept their slim finals hopes alive after a crucial 21-point win against Willunga at Langhorne Creek yesterday. The first quarter was tight as Willunga took a two-point lead to the first break. Langhorne Creek took control of the contest with four goals to one in the second term to take a handy 20-point lead at halftime. Both sides kicked three goals in the second half as Langhorne Creek came out on top 10.12 (72) to 7.9 (51). Darcy Clifford starred up forward for the Hawks with five goals, while Daniel Lee kicked two majors for the Demons. Jarrod Kellock was named best for Langhorne Creek and he was well supported by Clifford, Tom Derham, Coby Helyar and Josh Towk. Best players for Willunga included Sam Renney, Harrison Mills, Brad Haskett, Danny Juckers and Scott Brown. Victor Harbor all but confirmed their spot in the finals with a huge 156-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot. ‘Victor’ led by 21 points at quarter time, 56 points at halftime, and 105 points at the last change before winning 27.19 (181) to 4.1 (25). The ‘Roos had nine different goalkickers with Daniel Stock leading the way with eight majors, while Sam Basham slotted six goals and Sam Overall four. Best players for ‘Victor’ were Jesse McKinnon, Overall, Zac Dowling, Stock and Kane Cooper. The Magpies were best served by Ryan Carnelly, Kosta Dekoning, Jesse Bates, Jye Bottroff and Rory Hausser.Encounter Bay won their fifth game of the season after defeating a gallant Yankalilla by 22 points. The first half was tight with ‘Yank’ in front by two points at halftime. The Bays took over in the second half, kicking nine goals to five, to run out winners 15.7 (97) to 11.9 (75). Mason Middleton starred up forward for Encounter Bay with seven goals, while Denver Ker kicked four goals for the Tigers. Bays skipper Tyson Neale was best-on-ground and he was well supported by Middleton, Pat Taggart, Tyler Baldock and Callum Tonkin. Best for Yankalilla were Angus Weir, James Hargreaves, Liam Gerber, Joe Tyllis and Adam Hunt.Mount Compass have moved a step closer to finals action after a thrilling four-point win at home against Strathalbyn. Mount Compass got off to a great start as they pulled out to a 35-point lead by quarter time. The next two terms were pretty even with the Bulldogs still ahead by a handy 30 points at the final change. The Roosters came roaring home in the final term, kicking five goals to one, but ultimately came up short as ‘Compass’ held on to win 9.15 (69) to 9.11 (65). Tom Pinyon, Klaus Simons and Rilee Endersby all kicked two goals for Mount Compass, while Marc Elliott kicked three goals for the Roosters and was named best player for his team. Other good players for ‘Strath’ were Cooper Machin, Lachlan Butler, Mark Tucker and Richard O’Grady.
