Reynella started well to jump out to a handy 17-point lead at quarter time. The next two quarters were tight with the home side reducing the margin slightly but the Wine Flies still led at the final change by 14 points. The Emus came out full of fire in the final term and urged on by their home crowd, they turned the game around with a 5.5 to 0.2 quarter to win 12.17 (89) to 10.10 (70). Jack Glazbrook kicked three goals for the winners while Bailey Marshman also kicked three for Reynella. 2019 runner-up Noarlunga moved into the top four with a convincing 38-point victory at home against Happy Valley. The Shoes started strongly to take a 24-point lead at quarter time and they extended the margin out to 33 points at the long break. An even third quarter saw the home side turn for home with a handy 31-point lead. Noarlunga had given up big leads at three quarter time in the opening two rounds but this time they would not be denied as they ran out winners 13.5 (83) to 6.9 (45). Troy Johnson led the way up forward for the Shoes with four goals while Sam Carlyle was named best on ground. Rhys Barrett and Ben Ryan each kicked two goals for Happy Valley with Dwayne Ruddock named the Vikings best player.Christies Beach put up a cricket score as they thrashed Cove by 128 points at Cove on Saturday. The win pushed the Saints up to second on the ladder with a healthy percentage boost. The game was effectively over at quarter time after a blistering 10-goal burst in the first term by the Falcons saw them lead by 62 points at the first break. Port Noarlunga were more competitive after quarter time but eventually went down 23.16 (154) to 9.6 (60). Flaggies had plenty of avenues to goal with 10 different goal kickers including Daniel Butcher (6), Nick Bailey (5) and Ryan Mountford (3). Ian Milera played a lone hand for the Cockle Divers with six majors. Sadly the game was marred by Flagstaff Hill Football Club supporters allegedly directing racist insults at Indigenous players from Port Noarlunga, including Milera. The incident was brought to light when Milera posted on social media after the game saying it was "one of the worst days" he had experienced in his football career. The incident is currently under investigation.Ladder (after round 4)Flagstaff Hill 8, Christies Beach 6, Morphett Vale 6, Noarlunga 4, Port Noarlunga 4, Happy Valley 2, Reynella 2, Cove 0.Round 5 fixtures (Home team named first)Christies Beach v Happy ValleyFlagstaff Hill v Morphett ValePort Noarlunga v CoveReynella v Noarlunga

Kangarilla have tasted victory over Kersbrook for the first time in 12 years on a day of upsets in the Hills Football League (HFL) Country Division. In a high scoring match at Kersbrook, Kangarilla held on to win by just four points, 15.10 (100) to 13.18 (96). Kangarilla started fast to hold a very handy 31-point lead at the first change. Kersbrook hit back hard in the second term to cut the margin to just four points at the long break. It was a see-sawing third term which saw both teams kick four goals each as Kangies turned for home with a slender two-point margin. Kersbrook would rue their kicking for goal in the last quarter as they added 3.6 to Kangies 4.2 as the visitors won by just four points in one of the games of the season. Christies Beach move to the top of the SFLW ladder

Christies Beach has moved to the top of the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition after four rounds. The Saints made the short trip south to take on Aldinga and dominated all day to win 8.20 (68) to 0.0 (0). The margin could’ve been far great but for some inaccurate kicking for goal by Christies, including a wasteful 2.7 in the third term. Paige Kiley kicked three goals in a best on ground performance for the visitors. She was well supported by Melanie Koster, Hannah Crump, Tamara Page and Kelly Armstrong. For Aldinga, Jaimi Griffen, Jean-Louise Papps, Alison Szalanski, Emma O’Shaughnessy and Jemma Looyestyn battled hard.Flagstaff Hill registered their first win of the 2020 season following a convincing 10.13 (73) to 0.0 (0) victory at Hackham. The Falcons were never troubled as they led by 24 points at quarter time, 49 points at halftime, 59 at the final change before winning by 73 points. Katherine Wise (3) and Rachel Crockart (2) were the multiple goal kickers for Flagstaff Hill while Alana Baker, Crockart, Chloe Myers, Carli Morton and Shay’Lee Dayman were named in the best players for the winners. For the second week in a row Alana Browne was named best for Hackham and she was ably supported by Chelsea Deeth, Chrysti Flevill, Samantha Smith and Emily Cooper. The closest match of the round was at Reynella where the home side defeated Morphett Vale by 30 points. The visitors started well to lead by 10 points at the first change but it could’ve been an even bigger lead but for some inaccurate kicking which saw the Emus kick 1.5 (11) to 0.1 (1). It was to prove costly as Reynella hit back in the second term to lead by three points at the long break. The second half was all Reynella as they kicked five goals to one to win 7.7 (49) to 2.7 (19). Sarah Bourn and Shanique West each kicked three goals for Reynella. Ella Besley was named best for the Wine Flies along with Kristy MacKenzie, Natasha Gordon, Bourn and Emma James. Katelyn Wilson continued her excellent season to be named best for the Emus and she was well supported by Hannah Armstrong, Alisha Lyall, Emma Morrison and Brooke O’Brien.Cove had the bye.Ladder (after round 4)Christies Beach 6, Reynella 6, Cove 6, Flagstaff Hill 2, Morphett Vale 2, Hackham 2, Aldinga 2Round 5 fixtures (home team named first)Flagstaff Hill v CoveMorphett Vale v HackhamChristies Beach v ReynellaAldinga has the bye
