Victor Harbor are through to next week’s second semi-final after defeating McLaren Districts by 32 points in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) Qualifying Final at Yankalilla on Saturday. ‘Victor’ got off to a fast start to lead by 29 points at quarter time, and extended their lead to 30 points at the long break. Each side kicked 10 goals in the second half as Victor Harbor won 19.5 (119) to 13.9 (87). Harry Vincent kicked four goals in a best-on-ground display for the ‘Roos, while Brett Ellis and Daniel Marr kicked three goals each for the Eagles. Joining Vincent in the best players for ‘Victor’ included Ben Heaslip, Zac Dowling, Jaidan Kappler, Dylan Kleinig and Bryce Gibbs. Best players for McLaren Districts were Jackson Daniels, Marr, Archie Rutt, Stuart Green, Codey Ellison and Joel Vandeleur.Reigning premier Myponga-Sellicks won their fifth consecutive ‘A’ grade final after defeating Encounter Bay by 30 points in the Elimination Final at Encounter Bay yesterday. The Mudlarks won all four finals last season on their way to a drought-breaking premiership, and they will now face McLaren Districts in the first semi-final on Sunday at Willunga. Yesterday, the Bays started well to lead by 11 points at quarter time, before the Mudlarks hit back to take an 11-point lead of their own at halftime. A further seven goals to five in the second half saw Myponga-Sellicks win 14.13 (97) to 11.1 (67). Jake Spinks kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Mudlarks, and he was well supported by Kain Spinks, Liam Partridge, Hayden Sampson, Mitchell Wilkins and Ashton Hutchings. Zac Sproule was the standout forward on the ground with six goals (64 for the season) for Port Noarlunga, while Blake Aldridge kicked two goals for ‘Flaggies’. Western Districts’ quest for back-to-back undefeated premierships is one win away from fruition after they won their way through to the 2025 decider with a comprehensive 111-point win over Wisanger in the second semi-final in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) at Gosse yesterday. The Saints have now won 27 games in a row and look unstoppable for the flag. Yesterday, they led by seven points at quarter time, 34 points at halftime, and 37 points at the last change, before exploding in the last quarter with 12 unanswered goals to win 23.17 (155) to 6.8 (44). Lleyton Hedges (6), Brad Crabb (5) and Sam Jonas (4) were the leading goalkickers for Western Districts, while Ezra Forster, Timmy Turner and Khyal Stead kicked two goals each for the Panthers. Best players for Western Districts included Dylan Lockett, Jonas, Hedges, Josh Graham and Henry Hammat. Kingscote had an upset 20-point win over Dudley United at Wisanger today to book their spot in next Saturday’s preliminary final. Port Noarlunga warmed up for finals action with a 34-point win over Flagstaff Hill during round 18 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Flagstaff Hill on Saturday. Ironically these two teams will clash again, at the same venue, on Saturday in the Qualifying Final. Flagstaff Hill started well to take a handy 18-point lead at quarter-time, before Port Noarlunga hit back with eight goals to three in the second quarter to lead by 15 points at halftime. A further nine goals to five in the second half saw the Cockle Divers home 18.12 (120) to 12.14 (86). Zac Sproule (4) and Ryan Kelly (3) were the leading goalkickers for ‘Porties’, while Mason Carney (4), Nathan Beenham (3) and Blake Aldridge (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Falcons. However, ‘Porties’ finished best, kicking the only two goals of the last term, to win 7.5 (47) to 5.4 (34). Kalahni Howes kicked four goals for the Cockle Divers, while Jessica Couch and Melanie Koster kicked two goals apiece for the Falcons. The Bays were in command for most of the match as they took a 36-point lead into the last quarter. McLaren Districts roared back into the contest with six unanswered goals in the last term, however the Bays held on to win 13.9 (87) to 13.7 (85). Tyson Neale kicked five goals for Encounter Bay, while Matthew Merrett kicked four goals for the Eagles. Best players for Encounter Bay included Jackson Savage, Callum Tonkin, Ambrose Willoughby, Tate Walker, James Brown and Bailey Coleman-Oakes. It was a tight game with Reynella leading at three-quarter time by three points, before the Cobras kicked two goals to one in the final term to win 3.5 (23) to 3.3 (21). Best players for Cove included Hayley Donnell, Naomi Jones, Dana O'Brien, Ashleigh Need, Angelique Dean and Ella Gill, while Emily Risitano kicked two goals. It was the 14th consecutive victory for the Demons. The Willunga win was set up by a powerful first half that saw them lead by 33 points at halftime. Each team kicked six goals in the second half as the Demons triumphed 15.6 (96) to 9.9 (63). Liam Nye and Dylan Draper kicked three goals each for Willunga, while Jackson Elmes also kicked three goals for Victor Harbor. Nye was named best-on-ground for Willunga with Sam Renney, Nathan Stark, Daniel Lee, Jake Shirvington and Sean Beath also in the best players. Sam Overall, Ben Heaslip, Mitchell Brook, Michael Ross, Elmes and Heath Treloar were named best for the ‘Roos.Langhorne Creek won their sixth game of the season after defeating Yankalilla by 39 points.
