Macclesfield won their first game of the Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association (AEHCA) season after a five-wicket win at Nairne on Saturday. The home side batted first and were in a good position at 1/55, before losing their last 9/55 to be bowled out for 110 in the 34th over. Zac Llewellyn (28) was the only Razorbacks batsman to reach 20 as all six Redbacks bowlers got wickets. Harrison Farrelly (2/17), Declan Long (2/18), Tom Paech (2/19) and Karanbir Singh (2/27) were the multiple wicket takers for ‘Maccy’. Macclesfield were in a bit of strife early in the run chase as they slipped to 4/42 with Chad Harrop taking 2/10 from his nine overs for the Razorbacks. However, Oliver Llewellyn (29) and Rowan Voogt (25 not out) steadied the ship as the visitors got home in the 34th over. Langhorne Creek joined Lobethal at the top of the ladder after defeating the reigning premier by 54 runs on the turf at Langhorne Creek on Saturday. The home side were in early trouble at 2/19 before skipper Adam Clements joined veteran Ben Warren in an innings-defining partnership worth 150 runs for the third wicket. Warren top scored with 83 (117 balls), while Clements finished with 70 (83 balls) as Langhorne Creek put up 196 before being bowled out in the 44th over. Dave Huxter was the pick of the Lobethal bowlers with 4/15 (4.4), while Sam Martin took 2/25 (8). Lobethal had six batsmen reach double figures including Tanner King (27), Riley Harten (22 not out) and Steve Huxter (20), but no one could make the big score needed as the reigning premiers were bowled out for 142. All seven Langhorne Creek bowlers took wickets with Jagga Kotz (2/11), Troy Blackwell (2/19) and Shane Bown (2/28) leading the way. Woodside consolidated their spot in the top-four with a comfortable 74-run win at home against Bremer Callington. The Warriors batted first and got good contributions from their top-six batsmen, led by Brad Collins who top scored with 55 (88 balls). Collins was well supported by Noah Bell (40), Chris Baschiera (35 not out) and Tommy Baldock (33) as the home side finished on 7/247 from their 45 overs. Jonathon Fitzgerald (2/39), Nathan Fitzgerald (2/41) and Harry Eades (2/68) were the leading wicket takers for the Cobras. Bremer Callington got off to a fast start through Jai McMurtrie (27 off 19), but at 4/65 the Warriors were in total control. Co-captain Graydon Brand was joined by Alex Durbidge (37) and this pair gave their side some hope with a 69-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Brand departed for 50 (85 balls). Ultimately the Cobras came up short, finishing their 45 overs on 8/173. Veteran left-arm spinner Craig Medlow continued his good recent form with figures of 3/32 (9), while Shane Druwitt was miserly with 2/14 (8). A Paul Allegretto century has led Hahndorf to their sixth win of the season following their 71-run victory at Strathalbyn. Allegretto has been in good form this season, and on Saturday he cashed in with 159 not out (15 x 4’s, 4 x 6’s) to carry his bat through the Hahndorf innings. Magpies skipper Dan Jenner contributed 54 in a partnership worth 160 runs with Allegretto as the visitors finished on 2/254. Strathalbyn reached 2/140 in the run chase as Nathan Pelle (33) and Ashley Medhurst (24) combined with Mark Abbott in two good partnerships. Once Abbott was dismissed for a top-scoring 88 (9 x 4’s, 1 x 6), the Stallions lost their last 7/24 to be bowled out in the 41st over for 183. Dean Gore (3/10) and Jenner (2/15) were the multiple wicket takers for Hahndorf.
