Encounter Bay won their third game in a row after defeating Mt Compass by 116 runs during round eight action in the Great Southern Cricket Association (GSCA) at Encounter Bay on Saturday. The home side batted first and were under a bit of pressure when David Schulze (40 off 52 balls) was dismissed with the score at 3/66. Sam Hoffmann then joined skipper Cam Lintern and this pair added 122 for the fourth wicket before Lintern departed for 44 (70). Hoffmann went on to top score with a hard-hitting 98 from 74 balls (10 x 4’s, 4 x 6’s) as the Bays put up 7/222 from their 40 overs. Aaron Dalitz (3/17), Bailey Baldock (2/39) and Riley Tonkin (2/45) were the multiple wicket takers for Mt Compass. The Bulls were never in the run chase as they slumped to 9/46 with James Colley (33) the standout batsman. Number 11 Bailey Baldock joined Aaron Dalitz (8 not out) at the crease with the last pair adding an unbeaten partnership worth 60 runs to see Mt Compass finish on 9/106. Baldock top scored with 40 not out (57 balls). Chris Butler was the standout Encounter Bay bowler with the fine figures of 6/22 from his eight-over spell and he was well supported by Sunny Osmont with 2/9 (6). Noarlunga won their fifth game of the season after defeating Yankalilla by 85 runs at Yankalilla. The Shoes batted first with Travis Bronstein (36) and Jamie Diener (27) adding 61 for the second wicket, before three quick wickets fell to see Noarlunga at 4/92. Sean Williams joined former premiership skipper Jason Scarff at the crease and this pair put on 97 before Williams departed for 54 (47). Scarff went on to top score with 69 not out from 78 balls (7 x 4’s) as Noarlunga finished with 6/215. Ash Madden (2/30) and Doug Jones (2/44) were the leading wicket takers for Yankalilla. Williams (4/16) started off well with the ball for the Shoes as he took two wickets in the first over to leave the Tigers reeling at 2/0. Wickets fell steadily throughout the run chase with Yankalilla skipper Aaron Smith providing strong resistance as he scored 76 from 97 balls (10 x 4’s, 1 x 6), but ultimately Yankalilla finished on 9/130 from their 40 overs. Scarff was the other multiple wicket taker for Noarlunga with 2/21 (7). Port Elliot remained top of the ladder after a comfortable nine-wicket victory at Willunga on Saturday. Willunga batted first with Dan Hockham (12 not out) and Sammy George (11) the only batsman to reach double figures as they were bowled out for just 67. Seven Port Elliot bowlers took wickets with Levi Stringer (2/12) and Scott Hannam (2/17) leading the way. The Bloods wasted no time in the run chase as they knocked off the target in the 12th over without loss. Ethan Spriggs made 20 not out (29 balls), while Tyson Levy teed-off with 44 not out from 38 balls (2 x 4’s, 5 x 6’s). Goolwa won their fifth game on the trot after defeating Victor Harbor by 100 runs at 'Victor' on Saturday. The Magpies batted first with Matt Overall top scoring with 83 from 80 balls (12 x 4’s, 1 x 6), while Rory Hanson made 41 from 60 balls (4 x 4’s). Josh Jones (24) and Sam Cuconits (20) made handy contributions as Goolwa posted 7/193 from their 40 overs. Kenny Sumner (2/29) and Sean Medlen (2/48) were the multiple wicket takers for Victor Harbor. The Vipers struggled in the run chase with Harry Steele (35) the only batsman to pass 20 as they were bowled out in the 39th over for 93. Kangarilla moved within two points of the top-four after a comprehensive nine-wicket win against Mt Lofty during round 12 action in the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) at Kangarilla yesterday. Mt Lofty skipper Josh Healey won the toss and chose to bat, but that was as good as it got for the Redcaps as they were bundled out for just 63 inside 32 overs. Adam Carthew (21) was the only batsman to reach double figures as all five Kangarilla bowlers took wickets. Ben Evans was the star of the show with 3/15 (8.3) and he was ably supported by Ryan Grimmond (2/5) and Jack Evans (2/16). ‘Kangies’ were untroubled in the run chase as they knocked off the target in the 20th over with Che Martinsen top scoring with 34 not out from 55 balls (5 x 4’s). Connor Milde (1/23) was the sole wicket taker for Mt Lofty. Meadows consolidated their spot in the top-four with a thrilling five-wicket win over reigning premiers Stirling at Meadows. The visitors batted first with Jack Pick top scoring with 63 from 73 balls (5 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s), while Harrison Webb (41), Josh Heenan (31 not out) and Charlie Fryer (31) made handy contributions with the Eagles posting a healthy 7/237 from their 45 overs. Callum Teakle (2/45) was the leading wicket taker for the Bulldogs. Meadows started well with Oscar Tydeman making a quickfire 27 (18 balls), but it was veterans Luke Tonkin (66) and Haydn Reid (54) who provided the backbone of the run chase. Another Meadows legend, Chad Dawe applied the finishing touches with a hard-hitting 25 not out as the winning runs came off the penultimate ball of the contest. Charlie Fryer (2/42) and Ezekiel Hemming (2/64) were the multiple wicket takers for Stirling. Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) are up to third on the HCA ladder after a comfortable 108-run win over Uraidla at Cherry Gardens. After being in early trouble at 2/31, James Wissell (44) and Stuart Norton (49) added 100 for the third wicket. Zane Lewis chipped in with 26 not out, while Uraidla conceded a whopping 37 extras as SCIB posted 9/205 from their 45 overs. Patrick Kepa was the best of the Uraidla bowlers with 4/37 (8). Uraidla were never in the run chase with Mitch Makings (36) the only batsman to reach 20 as the visitors were rolled for just 97. Jayden Rea was the star with the ball for SCIB taking 5/13 from five overs. Hahndorf moved inside the top-four with a tight 20-run win over Wistow during round 11 action in the Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association (AEHCA) at Hahndorf on Saturday. The Magpies batted first and struggled early as they slipped to 6/73. Curtis Montgomery (37 not out) and Ryan Trafford-Walker (21) helped lift their side to a total of 159 before being bowled out in the 43rd over. Five Wistow bowlers took wickets including Connor Burgess (3/25), Harrison Burgess (3/34) and Ryan Watt (2/20). Wistow got themselves into a good position at 3/103 through an excellent innings from Connor Burgess who top scored with 65 (112 balls). From their strong position, the Echidnas lost 7/36 to be bowled out for 139. Ty Watson did the damage for Hahndorf with 4/19 (6), while former international cricketer Shaun Tait took 2/25 (9).Nairne won their fourth game in a row after defeating Bremer Callington by seven wickets at Nairne on Saturday. Bremer Callington batted first with Alex Durbidge (31) and Jai McMurtrie (20) top scoring as the Cobras were bowled out for 144 in the 32nd over. All five Nairne bowlers took wickets with Luke Stephenson (3/46), Will Brooks (2/14), Nick Melvin (2/22) and Ryan Williams (2/31) the multiple wicket takers. The Razorbacks were relatively untroubled in the run chase as they brought up victory with more than 18 overs to spare. Zac Llewellyn (24) and Melvin (22) made handy contributions, but it was Luke Timmins who carried the innings with 80 not out from 80 balls (10 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s). Timmins brought up his 5,000th career run for Nairne during the innings. Lobethal remained two games clear on top of the ladder after a comfortable 113-run win against Strathalbyn. Lobethal batted first and were in strife early at 3/14, but the Tigers’ great depth shone through as Scott Higgins and Sam Martin (47) added 85 runs for the fourth wicket. Higgins then combined with Steve Huxter (45) to put on 75 for the sixth wicket before Higgins went for 84 (122 balls) as Lobethal reached a total of 221. The Strathalbyn run chase never got going with Luke Cousins (23) the only player to pass 20 as the Stallions were rolled for 108 in the 39th over. Lobethal used nine bowlers with Dave Huxter the standout with 4/16 (7).Langhorne Creek won their fifth game on the trot following their four-wicket victory against Woodside. The Warriors batted first with Noah Bell (43) and Tommy Baldock (24) helping their side into a good position at 2/74, before they lost 8/42 to be bowled out for 116 in the 40th over. Daniel Evans (4/29) and Daniel Cleggett (3/18) were the leading wicket takers for Langhorne Creek. The Creeks were in deep trouble in the run chase as they slumped to 5/47 in the 14th over, with Brodie O’Dea (22) the only top-five batsman to reach double figures. Curtis Perrey (30 not out) and Ben Warren (20) then combined for an important 41-run partnership for the sixth wicket, while Perrey and Cleggett (11 not out) saw the Tigers over the line in the 35th over. Meadows moved up to second spot on the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) ladder after defeating Aldgate by nine wickets during round 11 action at Aldgate on Saturday. The home side batted first and were soon in trouble at 3/36, before Max Bilsborow (36) joined Will Quigley-Smith (33) in a 68-run fourth wicket stand. Mitch Wise (23 not out) was the only other batsman to pass 20 as the Gaters were restricted to 9/159 from their 45 overs. Rohan Reid (3/26), Zack Robertson (2/26) and Oscar Tydeman (2/31) were the leading wicket takers for the Bulldogs. Meadows wasted no time in the run chase as Tydeman and Reid opened up with a 128-run stand before Reid departed for 54 (50 balls) in just the 14th over. Tydeman went on to make 75 not out from 44 balls (6 x 4’s, 6 x 6’s) as the winning runs came up in the 19th over. Dean Vickery (2/20), James Lawrence (2/26) and Josh Jones (2/30) were the multiple wicket takers for the Magpies. Sam Carlyle (13) and Matt Overall added 57 runs for the first wicket before Sam Cuconits (45 not out) joined Overall to see Goolwa over the line in the 20th over. Overall finished with 78 not out from 60 balls (13 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s), while Riley Tonkin (1/5) was the sole wicket taker for Mt Compass. Yankalilla consolidated their spot in the top-six with a comfortable nine-wicket win over Victor Harbor. Bremer Callington moved within two points of the top-four after a convincing 123-run win over Hahndorf during round 10 action in the Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association (AEHCA) at Callington on Saturday. The Cobras batted first with Jai McMurtrie and Michael Kudra adding 98 runs for the first wicket before McMurtrie was dismissed for 47 (64 balls). Kudra went on to top score with 110 from 124 balls (10 x 4’s, 1 x 6) as Bremer Callington put up 4/227 from their 45 overs. Paul Allegretto (2/34) and Ty Watson (2/40) were the wicket takers for the Magpies. Hahndorf got themselves into the game through Watson (38) and Dan Jenner (27) as they reached 2/87 in the 22nd over. From that moment on however, it was all Bremer Callington as they took the last 8/17 to bowl the visitors out for 104. Ryder Dolman was the destroyer for the Cobras with the excellent figures of 5/11 (6.2), while McMurtrie completed a good all-round double with 3/11 (6).Langhorne Creek won their fourth game in a row after defeating local rival Strathalbyn by 100 runs at ‘Strath’.
