A Grade Women - Strathalbyn v PiratesStrathalbyn were first to bat on their first Saturday game for the season and had safe hits to Kim Cutting, Peyton Daniels, Kathryn Milne and Amber Crawford but they could only get two runs over the plate with Pirates short stop Margie Cammel making an out at first, pitcher Taminka Wilks also making an out at first and then combining with catcher Rachael Thompson for a K2. Strath’s pitcher/catcher combo of Tess Norris to Cutting made two K2’s for the first outs and Crawford took a catch at third to end the innings with the highlight for Pirates a safe hit to centre to Brenae Wieringa but they couldn’t bring anyone home.A two base hit to Norris started Strath off in the second and an error got Cutting on base but they were held scoreless with Pirates right fielder Debbie Taylor taking a catch and centre Jordana Wilks also taking a catch and quickly throwing to second base to catch the runner short of their ground for a double play. Pirates second at bat had a two base hit to T. Wilks but she was unable to come home with Strath’s short stop Daniels making an out at first, another K2 and Milne and second baser Ashlee Peterson combining for the out at first to hold them scoreless.Milne gained a walk in the third but she was the only one to get on base with Pirates working hard for an out at first, another catch taken by J. Wilks and another K2 to send Strath off the diamond. It was three up three down for Pirates with Strath’s first baser Milne taking a catch, a K2 to Norris and another out at first by Daniels.Safe hits to Peterson, Daniels, Crawford and Elise Duffield in the fourth helped bring home four runs with Pirates left fielder Michelle Stewart taking a catch, J. Wilks another catch and then also picking off the lead runner to hold them to those runs. Pirates faced a new pitcher in Daniels and they gained some walks and drew some errors but an out made at first and two K2’s to Daniels held them scoreless again. The fifth dig for Strath produced hits to Norris and Peterson and a two baser to Cutting and with walks gained by Rebecca Sims and Monica Spriggs they brought another four runners home with Pirates second baser Wendy Pope making a fielder's choice out at second, an out at first by Cammel and a K2 to end the innings. Pirates needed to get some runs on the board and with some walks gained, great base running and a safe hit to Weiringa they got one home with Strath making another K2, a catch by Milne and an out at first by Peterson to end the innings and the game with Strathalbyn coming out on top 10 runs to Pirates 1.C Grade Women - Strathalbyn v EchungaEchunga were up to bat first and Strath’s pitcher Rebecca Sims fielded and threw to first baser Elise Duffield for the first two identical outs. Echunga’s batters then got on base with Indy Sinnott forcing an error and then Lindsay Butler getting a great hit to the outfield for a home run before Brydie Spriggs took a catch at third to end the innings. Strath’s turn at bat got runners on with some hits and walks gained but they were unable to convert with Echunga’s short stop Sinnott making an out at first and then picking off the lead runner at third and third baser Hayley Brown throwing home to catcher Molly Playford to again pick off the runner and prevent any score.Walks were gained by Echunga in the second and they also forced some errors with the only safe hit by Shay Syrmas but combined with some great base running they brought home a further five runs with Strath’s right fielder Kaylene Hart taking a catch off a great hit by Playford, short stop Annabel McGregor picking off the lead runner at third and pitcher/catcher combo of Monica Spriggs to Amber Crawford working well for a K2. Strath needed to get runs on the board and started it off with a home run to Crawford, a three baser to M. Spriggs, a two baser to Sims and singles to Duffield and B. Spriggs. Lobethal’s depth came through in the end with Matt Martin (43 not out) and Steve Huxter (35 not out) putting on an unbroken sixth-wicket stand worth 87 runs as the target was reached in the 34th over. Hahndorf moved up to second spot on the ladder after a comfortable 121-run win at home against Bremer Callington on Saturday. The Magpies batted first with Paul Allegretto and Sam Williams adding 58 runs for the first wicket before Williams departed for 25 (42 balls). The visitors batted first with their innings set up by a dominant display from opening batsman Daniel Kropp. Kropp whacked 98 from 95 balls with his innings including nine fours and six sixes. Dan Cleggett (25) and Ben Warren (21 not out) were the other batsmen to pass 20 as the Tigers made 221 before being bowled out in the 40th over. Luke Jones had the restrictive figures of 3/2 from 4.4 overs and he was supported by Joe Lions (3/39), Connor Moore (2/24) and Rowan Voogt (2/34). The Redbacks were under immediate pressure in the run chase as they slumped to 5/28 before Josh Lewis-Burns made a quickfire 33 from 24 balls (4 x 4’s, 1 x 6’s). It was all in vain though as ‘Maccy’ was bundled out for just 74. Langhorne Creek skipper Adam Clements was the star with the ball with figures of 5/24 from his nine overs, while Tyler Lines mopped up the tail with three wickets in four balls, finishing with 3/1 (0.4). Nairne kept their finals hopes alive ahead of a big clash with Woodside next week after defeating Strathalbyn by 27 runs at ‘Strath’ on Saturday. Two out of Two on the Diamond for the Panthers

A Grade Women - Strathalbyn v RedsoxRedsox were up to bat first and had a safe hit to Steph Hull which left her stranded on base with Strath’s short stop Kim Cutting taking a catch and two outs were made at first holding them scoreless. Strath’s turn at also was scoreless with Redsox first baser Lauren Christensen taking a catch, third baser Emily Mohan-Ram making the out at first and a catch taken at right field by Amy Golder.Again one safe hit, this time to Alex Mackay resulted in her being left on base with Strath’s pitcher/catcher combo of Tess Norris to Gab Martin working well together for three K2’s to end the innings scoreless. A two base hit to Lara Tamke was not enough to get her home with Redsox making two outs at first and a catch taken by short stop Hull kept the game at no score.More safe hits in the third by Redsox brought one run home with Strath working hard in the field with two outs made at first and a great catch at centre field by Tamke to hold them to that. Great batting by Strath included safe hits to Georgia Tomkinson and Bianca Pash with Cutting gaining a two baser which helped bring in five runs to put them in front with Redsox making another two outs at first and a pick off of the lead runner at second.A hit to the outfield by Kel O’Brien was the highlight for Redsox in the fourth but again Strath’s tight fielding prevented her from getting home with a pick off at second, another K2 and first baser Brooke Moses fielding and playing her base to end the innings. Strath forced some errors in the field but they weren’t able to use it to their advantage with Redsox making an out at first and catches taken by centre fielder Saskia Charter-Harris and another to Hull.A two base hit to Chloe Zakelj got her in a scoring position in the fifth and she was able to get home with help from another safe hit by Christensen but Strath tightened in the field again with a line drive catch by Tomkinson now at short stop, an out at first by second baser Ashlee Peterson and a pick off of the lead runner at second held them to just the one run. Strath had a safe hit to Moses and an error drawn by Pash but they were both left stranded by Redsox making another out at first with Christensen and Hull both taking another catch.Redsox needed to make runs in the sixth and Strath needed to hold them if they wanted to protect their lead and they did with Tomkinson making an out at first, Moses fielding and playing her base again and a K2 to new pitcher Peyton Daniels which meant Strathalbyn would come away with the win 5 runs to 2.C Grade Women - Strathalbyn v HahndorfStrathalbyn were up to bat first and started well with safe hits to Elise Duffield, Monica Spriggs, Brydie Spriggs and a two baser to Amber Crawford which helped move runners around to bring home six runs with Hahndorf making an out at first, a pick off of the lead runner at second and a catch taken at second by Elsie Bloffwitch. Hahndorf also had safe hits to Kerry Lawson, Anna Bell, Jemma Langford and Emma Thomson which moved runners around and brought five runs across the plate with Strath’s fielders working hard to shut them down by catcher Crawford taking a catch and two pick offs at third stopping the lead runner. Some walks gained and another safe hit to Crawford added two runs to Strath’s tally with Hahndorf taking out the lead runner at third, centre fielder Langford taking a catch and a K2 to pitcher/catcher Bell to Emma Faber Paul ending the innings. The second dig for Hahndorf produced a safe hit to Lawson and a two baser to Danielle Guilfoyle which brought in one run with Strath’s first baser Duffield playing her base for the out and combining with third baser B. Spriggs for a cross diamond double play from third to first and back to third.Strath were held scoreless in the third with only one runner getting on with Hahndorf making an out at first and catches taken at right field by Celeste Paul and left field by Janaya Liebelt. Hahndorf needed to make some runs to get in front and they had some safe hits but they were only able to bring one home with Strath making all three outs at first base to end the innings and the game coming out on top by one run 8 to 7 in a tightly fought game.

Jack Pick was the main destroyer for Stirling with 4/22 (8), while Ezekiel Hemming took 2/50. The Stirling run chase never really got going as they were in early trouble at 3/26 before being bowled out in the 30th over for just 87. Harrison Webb was the standout Eagles batsman with 43 (78 balls). Five Redcaps bowlers took wickets with Will Healey bowling an amazing spell to capture 4/5 from his nine overs (including five maidens), while Connor Milde took 2/19 (5). Kangarilla kept their slim finals chances alive after a seven-wicket victory at home against Mylor yesterday. Mylor batted first and it was a real struggle against a disciplined Kangarilla bowling lineup. Tom Plant (40) and Oliver Barnes (20) were the best of the top-six batsmen, while Jesse Cooper (21 not out) and James Warburton (15 not out) put on 33 runs for the ninth wicket as the Pipers reached 8/125 from their 45 overs. Che Martinsen (3/19) and Ryan Grimmond (3/21) were the leading wicket takers for ‘Kangies’, while Jack Evans bowled a restrictive spell of 1/10 (9). Kangarilla were untroubled in the run chase with skipper Jake Turnbull (44), Grimmond (29), Cole Davy (25 not out) and Steve Featherstone (21) helping their side to the target in the 40th over. Bridgewater won their second game in a row with a 30-run win at home against Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB). The Raiders batted first with James Dawson (36) and Ty Watson (34) adding 53 runs for the second wicket, while Luke Hoyle chipped in with a quickfire 20 (13 balls) as Bridgewater finished 9/188 from their 45 overs. Beau Harwood (3/59), Lachlan Knight (2/33) and Zane Lewis (2/33) were the leading wicket takers for SCIB. Scott Creek Ironbank got themselves into a good position in the run chase at 3/122 through good contributions from Knight (36), Adam Shearwood (31), Darcy Campbell (24) and Sam Hill (23), but that was as good as it got for the visitors as they lost their last 7/36 to be bowled out for 158. Dawson (4/33) completed a good all-round double for the Raiders, while Harry Moule-Hooworth snared 2/19 (6). Ladder (after round 10)Mt Lofty 36, Stirling 28, Mylor 24, Aldgate 20, Bridgewater 16, Scott Creek Ironbank 16, Kangarilla 12, Meadows 8.Round 11 (15/2/25 - home teams named first)Meadows v BridgewaterAldgate v KangarillaMylor v Mt LoftyStirling v Scott Creek Ironbank

Baker combining well for a K2 and the only out of the innings. Strathalbyn came in to bat and again gained some walks with the highlight a two base hit to S. Baker and with great base stealing they again brought in the full seven runs with Redsox pitcher/catcher Golder to Sophie Barnes making a K2 and Golder also taking a catch. The third dig for Redsox gained them some walks and they brought home two runs with Strath’s fielders working hard with L. Strange fielding at second and throwing to B. The Hills Cricket Association (HCA) won the Harry Meyer Shield for a record 17th time after defeating Alexandra & Eastern Hills (AEHCA) by 15 runs in a thriller at Birdwood Oval today. Alexandra & Eastern Hills won the toss and sent Hills into bat, which appeared to be a good decision as Hills slumped to 3/31 in the eighth over. Hills skipper Jordan Neis-Beer was joined by Adam Shearwood and this pair set about resurrecting the innings with a 68-run fourth-wicket stand before Neis-Beer departed for 37 (84 balls). Shearwood was joined by Rohan Reid in another good partnership worth 64 runs before Shearwood was dismissed for an important 49 (106). Reid then took over with a punishing 74 not out from 64 balls (2 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s) as he and Jake Turnbull (18 not out) lifted Hills to 5/218 from their 50 overs. Adam Clements (2/37) and Mitch Weeks (2/50) were the leading wicket takers for Alexandra & Eastern Hills. Alexandra & Eastern Hills were also in early trouble in the run chase as they slipped to 2/22 with Hills opening bowler Steve Featherstone (2/37) snaring both wickets. Tanner King (24) added 69 runs for the third wicket with Weeks, but when Weeks was dismissed for 62 (71 balls), three more wickets fell to leave AEHCA at 7/145 and Hills were right on top. Clements was still in for Alexandra & Eastern Hills and he remained their big hope of victory. Ty Watson, who had only bowled three overs for the carnival, was becoming the unlikely hero with the ball for Hills, as he snared 4/41 from his 10-over spell. The game turned once again with Clements and Matt Martin (30 not out) edging their side towards victory with a partnership worth 37 runs before Reid (2/10), on for his first over of the innings, got the crucial wicket of Clements for 42 (73). Reid got another breakthrough, while the game was ended with a run out in the 49th over with Alexandra & Eastern Hills bowled out for 203 to cue celebrations for the Hills team as they secured back-to-back titles.
