Enter Blake Lewis (40 not out) and Max Bilsborow (19 not out) to put on an unbroken fourth wicket partnership worth 72 runs to get Aldgate over the line in the 30th over. Ben Evans (2/18) was the pick of the Kangarilla bowlers.A Ty Watson batting masterclass has pushed Bridgewater into the top-four after defeating Meadows by 87 runs at Bridgewater Oval yesterday. Watson dominated with a knock of 142 from 141 balls (17 x 4’s, 4 x 6’s) as the Raiders put up 6/264 from their 45 overs. Justin Summerill (56 from 70) joined Watson at 3/46 and added 133 for the fourth wicket. Will Bevan-Giles (3/46) and Callan Blackwell (2/58) were the multiple wicket takers for Meadows. Oscar Tydeman (58) and Rohan Reid (46) got the Bulldogs off to a flier with a 93-run stand inside 11 overs. However, once these two were dismissed, Bridgewater took over to bowl Meadows out for 177 in the 29th over, despite some late order resistance from veteran Chad Dawe (39 off 34). Ty Watson completed an excellent all-round game with 3/27 (6), while Ben Slater (3/34) and Jarrad Tait (2/31) were the other multiple wicket takers for the Raiders.Mt Lofty consolidated their spot in the top-four with a low-scoring 56-run win over Mylor at Heathfield. It was left to the ever-reliable pair of Jordan Neis-Beer (40) and Adam Carthew (28) to resurrect the innings through a 72-run union for the fourth wicket. Shane Druwitt bowled an excellent spell for the Warriors to snare 4/12 (7) and he was well supported by Jeremy Druwitt (4/46) and Chris Baschiera (2/25). After being in early trouble at 2/19, Trent Young (27) and Dave Wescome put on 58 for the third wicket. Wescombe went on to top score with 63 not out from 47 balls (10 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s) with the winning runs coming up in just the 20th over. Ryan Trafford-Walker (1/15), Bradey Judd (1/19) and Hudson Judd (1/27) were the wicket takers for Hahndorf. Bremer Callington won their second game of the season following a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Macclesfield at Callington. ‘Maccy’ batted first and the Cobras were all over them from the start as they were bowled out for just 52. Nathan Fitzgerald took 4/8, including a hattrick, and he was well supported by Johnny Fitzgerald (2/5), Graydon Brand (2/11) and Jai McMurtrie (2/22). Redsox continue undefeated run with win over Strathalbyn in Hills Softball
Redsox continue undefeated run with win over Strathalbyn in Hills Softball

02 November 2024, 11:30 PM

Redsox batted first and had multiple safe hits which brought five runs home before Strathalbyn’s left fielder Ashlee Peterson took a catch. Redsox continued their great batting by getting batters on base and with bases loaded Amelia Rusden hit a grand slam to centre field bringing home a further four runs before Strath’s third baser Kathy Pash took a catch and first baser Brooke Moses combined with second baser Buttsy Milne for the last out at first. Strath’s first innings only had one safe hit to Pash which was a three baser and she came home off of an error to the catcher for the only run of the innings with Redsox second baser taking a catch, an out made at first and a catch taken at third by Talia Moyle ending the innings.Strath’s fielding in Redsox second turn at bat was much better with short stop Georgia Tomkinson making two outs at first and new pitcher Pash also making an out at first to hold them scoreless. Strath needed to get some runs on the board and even though they got batters on they were unable to come home with Redsox making a K2, first baser Kylie Gray taking a catch and quickly throwing to second to catch the runner short of their ground for the third out and a double play. The third dig for Redsox again had some safe hits and they were able to bring home a further four runs with Strath’s pitcher making an out at first, Tomkinson taking a catch at short stop and Pash combining with catcher Kim Cutting for a K2 to send them from the diamond. Strath’s third innings also couldn’t get any runners home even with a safe hit to the outfield by Cutting with Redsox just too strong in the field making an out at first and Gray quickly throwing to third to pick off the lead runner for a double play and a K2 ended the innings holding Strath scoreless again.Strath tightened their fielding in Redsox fourth turn at bat and even though they got a batter on base they couldn’t get home with short stop Tomkinson making two outs and pitcher Pash taking a catch to end the innings and hold them scoreless. Strath found it hard going in the batting box and knew they needed to make runs but were unable to with Redsox pitcher/catcher combo of Claire Mohan-Ram to Alex Mackay making two K2’s and short stop Steph Hull fielding and making the out at first to end the innings and the game. Redsox coming out on top with a 13 to 1 win.

Mylor skipper Michael Warburton won the toss and sent Kangarilla in on their home deck and ‘Kangies’ were soon in trouble at 3/33 before Lenny Berkefeld joined Ryan Smallman at the crease. This pair added 87 for the fourth wicket before Berkefeld departed for 46 (83 balls). Smallman went on to top score with 51 not out (99 balls) as Kangarilla posted 6/151 from their 45 overs. Warburton led from the front with nine overs of tight off-spin to claim 3/8, while opening bowler Oliver Barnes bowled a miserly spell of 1/6 from nine overs. Mylor were also in trouble in the run chase at 4/51 before Barnes joined Liam Tansell in what would prove a match-winning partnership of 69 for the fifth wicket before Tansell went for a swashbuckling 76 from 53 balls (5 x 4’s, 6 x 6’s). Barnes went on to make 38 (74 balls) as the Pipers got over the line with six overs to spare. Strathalbyn were first up to bat and started with a single to Kim Cutting who made her way home with great base running for the only run of the innings with Hahndorf’s pitcher/catcher combo of Lucy Weatherstone to Sophie Walton working well together for two K2’s and a great catch at right field by Matilda Lovelock sending them from the diamond. Strath’s pitcher/catcher combo of Tessa Norris to Gab Martin was also working well with two K2’s and an out by third baser Peyton Daniels to first baser Brooke Moses held Hahndorf scoreless with three up three down.Strath got runners on in the second and a home run to Kathy Pash brought in a total of three runs with Hahndorf making another two K2’s for the innings and an out at first by second baser Breanna Luxon ended the innings. Strath were working hard in the field with Mia Oats-Willis the only batter to get on with a two base hit before another K2, an out at first by short stop Cutting and second baser Ashlee Peterson making the last out at first holding Hahndorf scoreless again.Hahndorf returned the favour in Strath’s third batting dig, preventing them from adding to the total with two outs at first and another K2. Strath started tight in the field with Daniels taking a catch and combining with Cutting to make an out at third before Hahndorf got a string of hits together and with great base running they brought in five runs with Norris regrouping and finishing the innings with a K2.Strath got back to batting in the fourth and had multiple safe hits and well picked walks and with Pash in the zone in her two turns at bat, both three basers, it helped to bring home seven runs with Handorf making two outs at first and Eliza Lovelock taking a catch at left field.
