Eastern Zone has won both the Men’s and Women’s titles at the SA Country Football Championships held at Encounter Bay and Victor Harbor this weekend. Eastern also took out the major individual awards with Joel Parker-Boers (Hahndorf) winning the Don McSweeney medal as the best player in the Men’s competition, while Sarah Campbell (Blackwood) was named Women’s player of the championship.Southern Zone (Great Southern/Southern/Kangaroo Island) finished fourth in the Men’s and fifth in the Women’s competition. Reigning premier McLaren Districts inflicted ladder-leader Victor Harbor’s first loss of the season following their 48-point win at McLaren Vale during round 12 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) yesterday. The Eagles won every quarter on their way to a 15.17 (107) to 9.5 (59) victory. Cameron Jarrett kicked four goals for McLaren Districts, while Sam Basham kicked three majors for Victor Harbor.
