Bridgewater moved within a win of the top-four following their high scoring six-wicket win against Aldgate during round nine action at Aldgate Oval yesterday. The Gaters batted first with skipper Josh Callaghan top scoring with 56 from 56 balls (2 x 4’s, 5 x 6’s). He was well supported by Pierce Cordes-Harvey (46), Luke Smet (45) and Mitch Thomas (38) as the home side posted 7/232 from their 45 overs. Liam Risson (3/52) and Peter Atkins (2/39) were the multiple wicket takers for Bridgewater. Atkins (22) and Ty Watson (20) got the Raiders off to a good start with a 45-run opening stand, but once they were dismissed and the score was 2/47, the game had swung in Aldgate’s favour. Bridgewater skipper Jarrad Tait and new recruit James Dawson had other ideas as they added 118 for the third wicket before Tait departed for a hard-hitting 74 from 40 balls (8 x 4’s, 5 x 6’s), while Dawson went on to make 56 from 56 balls (8 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s). Jordan Wood (27 not out) put the finishing touches on the run chase as the winning runs came up in the 35th over. Angus Bilsborow (2/49) was the leading wicket taker for Aldgate.Mylor consolidated their spot in the top-four with a 40-run win at Meadows yesterday. The Pipers batted first with the innings underpinned by opening batsman Tom Plant who top scored with 73 (114 balls). He was well supported by Todd Dellatorre who made a quickfire 42 not out from 29 balls (2 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s) and Alex Kern (40) as Mylor put up a competitive 5/224 from their 45 overs. Callan Blackwell took 2/31 (9) for the Bulldogs. Meadows were in early trouble at 4/42 before veteran Haydn Reid and Ryan Sawtell (14) added 44 runs for the fifth wicket. Reid then combined with Ryan Clarke (29) to lift their side to 5/145 before Reid departed for 59 (92) as the home side lost their last 5/39 to be bowled out for 182 in the 43rd over. All six Mylor bowlers took wickets with Dylan Quinn leading the way with 3/28 (7.2), while skipper Michael Warburton (2/22) and Jesse Cooper (2/27) were the other multiple wicket takers. Stirling won their third game in a row after a tight 16-run win at home against Kangarilla. The Eagles batted first and were in all sorts of strife at 5/26 in the ninth over with Jack Evans (3/22) and Che Martinsen (3/37) doing all the damage for ‘Kangies’ with the ball. Sean McCullum (15) steadied the ship with Charlie Fryer, before Pete Fryer joined his son Charlie at the crease. The father-son duo added 66 runs for the seventh wicket before Charlie Fryer went for 54 (83 balls). Pete Fryer continued on to score 38 (64), while James Richards added a quickfire 35 from 22 balls (2 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s) at the end to lift the home side to a total of 178. Kangarilla got themselves into a good position in the run chase with Steve Featherstone (43), Ben Evans (36) and Ryan Smallman (20) helping ‘Kangies’ to 4/137 with seven overs left. Stirling hit back hard, taking 6/25, to bowl the visitors out for 162 in the final over. Jack Pick (3/21), Chris Shaw (3/27) and Connor McFadyen (2/31) were the leading wicket takers for Stirling.Mt Lofty maintained top spot on the ladder with a 56-run win in the grand final rematch against Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) at Cherry Gardens. The Redcaps batted first and got solid contributions from Adam Carthew (29), Nick Justice (26), Josh Healey (24), Jordan Neis-Beer (22) and Tim Noble (22) as they finished on 7/187. Jayden Rea (2/19), Ben Thomas (2/27) and Beau Harwood (2/34) were the leading wicket takers for SCIB. The home side got themselves into a good position at 2/78 with Adam Shearwood (34) and Aaron Thompson (27) leading the way. Once those two were dismissed, SCIB collapsed to lose 8/53 and were bowled out for 131. Peter Giannes (3/34), Connor Milde (3/36), Sam Furber (2/17) and Will Healey (2/19) were the leading wicket takers for Mt Lofty.
