Stirling won their third Hills Cricket Association (HCA) A1 premiership in four years after defeating Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) by nine wickets at Stirling Oval yesterday. Scott Creek Ironbank skipper Adam Shearwood won the toss and decided to bat first on a picture-perfect Adelaide Hills day. Unfortunately for SCIB, that was as good as it got, as they slumped to 4/10 in the eighth over. Stirling were on fire in the field with Eagles ‘keeper Sean McCullum pulling off an excellent leg-side stumping off the bowling of James Richards (2/24), while the dangerous Aaron Thompson was dismissed via a one-handed catch from Jack Pick from the bowling of veteran Pete Fryer (1/16). Stuart Norton (20) and Matthew Dunn (14) tried to lift their side but it was to no avail, as SCIB were rolled for just 75. Ezekiel Hemming was the standout seam bowler for the Eagles as he snared 4/8 from 6.3 overs, while Pick bowled an incredibly economical spell to took 3/7 from his nine overs. Stirling wasted no time in the run chase with Sean McCullum and skipper Jack Read putting on 50 runs for the first wicket off just 25 balls before McCullum went for 16 (12 balls). Read was unstoppable as he brought up the winning runs in just the ninth over with his third consecutive ‘maximum’, as he finished on 49 not out from 21 balls (3 x 4’s, 5 x 6’s). Lachlan Knight (1/17) was the sole wicket taker for Scott Creek Ironbank. Stirling’s depth with the ball shone out in the finals as they took 20 wickets for just 140 runs in their two finals, while it was a great way for Fryer to finish his ‘A’ grade career at Stirling with a second premiership.

Hahndorf’s second turn at bat produced safe hits to Liebelt, Anna Bell and Lawson with the highlight going to Elsie Bloffwitch with a home run but they were only able to bring home two runs with Strath’s catcher Amber Crawford taking a foul catch and then quickly throwing to first to catch the runner short of their ground for a double play and B. Redsox and Strathalbyn played the late game in the second A grade semi-final with Redsox batting first. Strathalbyn started the game well defensively with catcher Gab Martin making an out at first and right fielder Georgia Tomkinson taking two great catches to hold them scoreless with three up three down. Strath drew some errors and had safe hits to Daniels and Milne and with some great base running they brought three runs home with Redsox centre Saskia Charter-Harris taking a catch, right fielder Adams-McDonald taking a catch and third baser Chloe Zakelj making the out at first to end the innings.Zakelj hit a two baser in Redsox third turn at bat and was brought home by a safe hit to Zoe Thompson for the only run of the innings with Strath’s second baser Ashlee Peterson making two outs at first and Cutting making the third out at first base. The third dig for Strath got Tomkinson on base and produced another safe hit to Cutting and with great base running Tomkinson was able to steal home for the only run of the innings with Redsox picking off the lead runner at second, making an out at first and left fielder Thompson taking a catch. The fourth turn at bat for Redsox was scoreless too with Cutting picking off the lead runner at second, taking a catch and Tomkinson taking her fourth catch for the game at right field to end the innings with just four batters up. Redsox really switched on in the field with centre Charter-Harris taking another catch, short stop Hull taking a great line drive catch and second baser Lauren Christensen making the third out at first base to hold Strath scoreless with three up three down.Redsox needed to make runs in the fifth and they got Hull on base who then stole her way to second, advanced to third by Christensen and then stole home but unfortunately she was the only run in with Strath’s left fielder Bianca Pash taking a catch, Peterson making another out at first and a K2 holding them. Strath came in looking for some runs to add to their tally and walk away with a mercy win but Redsox weren’t giving up with a pick off of the lead runner and another catch at right but with some great base running and a two base hit to Daniels they brought runners home to come away with the win Strathalbyn 9 runs to Redsox 2 and head straight into the Grand Final.
