Yankalilla pulled off one of the upsets of the season after defeating finals-bound Encounter Bay by one point during round 11 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at Yankalilla on Saturday. Bailey Gaskin kicked his second goal of the match on the siren to give the Tigers victory, 16.7 (103) to 15.12 (102). Other multiple goalkickers for Yankalilla included Cameron Ker (3), Joel Field (3), Thaddeus Puautjimi (3) and Joel Kay (2), while the Tigers best players were Joe Tyllis, Lachlan Whittlesea, Michael Thompson, Gaskin, Ker and Tyler Athanasos. Sarah Bourn had a day out up forward for Reynella with 10 majors, while Tayla Wright slotted three majors. Joining Bourn and Tayla Wright in the best players for Reynella included Summer Weir, Ashlee Wright, Sienna Garner and Mia Brennan. The Cockle Divers held an 11-point lead at halftime, before kicking four unanswered goals in the third term to lead by 36 points at the final change. Blackwood showed plenty of fight in the last quarter as they kicked four goals to none, but the damage was done as ‘Porties’ won 7.2 (44) to 5.3 (33). Happy Valley won their ninth game on the trot after a come-from-behind 19-point victory over Port Noarlunga during round 10 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Happy Valley yesterday. Port Noarlunga started well to lead by 21 points at quarter time, and after an even second quarter, ‘Porties’ still led by 21 points at the long break. Happy Valley needed to lift, and that’s exactly what they did, as they kicked five goals to two in the ‘premiership quarter’ to reduce the margin to just five points with a quarter to go. The Vikings then dominated the final term, kicking 4.2 to 0.2, to win 13.7 (85) to 9.12 (66). Harry Vick kicked three goals in a best-on-ground display for Happy Valley and he was well supported by Nicholas Kraemer, Harry Davenport, Dylan Strickland, skipper Harry Spacie and Dylan Brown. The Bays led by three points at halftime, before kicking four goals to one in the third term to take a handy 19-point lead at the last change. Each side kicked a goal in the last quarter as Encounter Bay won 9.1 (55) to 5.8 (38). Ben Davis kicked four goals for Encounter Bay, while Darcy Brown kicked two goals for the Eagles.
