20 November 2023, 7:30 AM

Scott Creek Ironbank has gone a game clear on top of the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) ladder following a thrilling eight-run win against Mt Lofty at Cherry Gardens on Saturday. SCIB batted first with skipper Adam Shearwood and Thomas Watton (26) adding 59 runs for the first wicket. Shearwood was joined by veteran Andy Adams and this pair put together an innings-defining stand of 135 before Adams departed for 55 from 75 balls (2 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s). Shearwood continued on to make a fine 104 from 110 balls (12 x 4’s). Shearwood now has 294 runs at an average of 49.00 this season. SCIB were eventually bowled out for 235 off the last ball of the innings. Connor Milde (3/36) and Peter Giannes (2/41) were the multiple wicket takers for the Redcaps. Mt Lofty got off to a great start with Josh Mitchell hitting a quickfire 47 from 29 balls (8 x 4’s, 1 x 6). Skipper Jordan Neis-Beer made 38 (57 balls), but when he was dismissed, the visitors slipped to 6/128 and the game appeared to be Scott Creek Ironbank’s for the taking. Tim Noble and Giannes had other ideas as they put on 38 runs for the seventh wicket before Giannes went for 22 from 23 balls. Noble continued on to top score with 58 (71 balls), but ultimately the Redcaps were bowled out for 227 in the final over. Ben Thomas (3/29) and Suresh Sripada (2/45) were the leading wicket takers for the home side.Mylor won their second game in a row with a comfortable six-wicket win at Meadows on Saturday. Mylor won the toss and sent the home side into bat and the Bulldogs finished their 45 overs on 8/159. Meadows skipper Rohan Reid led the way once again with 57 (95 balls), while Haydn Reid (22) and Brad Dawe (21) made useful contributions. Oliver Barnes (2/29) and Thomas Jensen (2/34) were the multiple wicket takers for the visitors, while there were three run outs. Mylor’s run chase got off to a fast start with Tom Plant (55 off 49 balls) and Liam Tansell (41 off 28) adding 92 for the first wicket. Ben James contributed 35 not out (57 balls) as Mylor brought up the win in the 37th over. Will Bevan-Giles (3/61) and Chad Dawe (1/45) were the wicket takers for the Bulldogs.Kangarilla won their third game in a row with a low-scoring 26-run home victory over Aldgate. The Gaters won the toss and elected to bowl and the move seemed a good one as ‘Kangies’ struggled their way to 8/126 from their 45 overs. Che Martinsen was the top scorer for the home side with 37 from 70 balls (1 x 4, 1 x 6). Matt Hansen (2/21) and Jack Woollard (2/27) were the major wicket takers for Aldgate. The Gaters were soon in trouble in the run chase as they slumped to 6/31. Skipper Jake Turnbull (28) and James Anthony (34 not out) gave them some hope, but ultimately the visitors came up short at 9/100. Martinsen completed a fine game with the restrictive figures of 3/10 (9) and he was well supported by Ben Evans (3/17) and Ryan Grimmond (2/22). Reigning premiers Stirling won their third game of the season to move inside the top-four after a six-wicket win over Bridgewater. Willunga pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory against Yankalilla during round four action in the Great Southern Cricket Association (GSCA) at Willunga Oval on Saturday. The Demons resumed day two at 3/20 in pursuit of Yankalilla’s handy day one total of 200, and that soon became 4/30 as skipper Luke Harding joined Simon Roberts in what was to be a key partnership. The experienced pair added 127 runs for the fifth wicket to get their side within sight of victory before Harding departed for a crucial 52 (141 balls). Roberts continued on to top score with 95 from 184 balls (6 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s) before he was run out with just  two runs required for victory. Aaron Smith completed a fine all-round double for the Tigers with figures of 5/69 (25 overs) to go with his 83 runs on day one. McLaren Districts won their second game in a row with a heart-stopping six-run win against Mount Compass at McLaren Flat. The Crushers posted an imposing 8/260 on day one but ‘Compass’ pushed them all the way as Josh Murfitt and Paul Barrett put on a huge second wicket partnership worth 179 runs as the Bulls reached 1/184. Barrett was dismissed for 62 (3 x 4’s), while Murfitt continued on to make a fine 118 (15 x 4’s). Ethan Osmond added 36 not out, but ultimately his side came up agonisingly short at 7/254. George Beard claimed 5/94 from a marathon 24 overs, while Jett Holberton took 2/75 from 27 overs for the Crushers. Noarlunga has made their way into the top-6 with a 70-run win against Myponga-Sellicks at Old Noarlunga. The Mudlarks were chasing Noarlunga’s 6/215 from day one and they got themselves into a reasonable position at 4/102 with Michael Tomlinson (48) and Sean Haverty (30) leading the way. Once Noarlunga bowler Travis Bronstein removed the dangerous Tomlinson, Myponga-Sellicks lost their last 6/43 to be dismissed for 145. Bronstein finished with 5/34 from 15 overs, his second five-wicket haul in ‘A’ grade ranks, while Jason Scarff took 3/43 (17). Kym Dooley was the other Mudlarks batsman to pass 20 with a hard-hitting 31 (26 balls).Encounter Bay remained unbeaten and on top of the GSCA ladder following a comfortable six-wicket win against Goolwa. The Bays started day two on 2/38 in pursuit of the Magpies’ day one total of 114, and despite losing a couple of early wickets to be 4/61, Matt Overall and Cam Lintern saw their side over the line without further loss. This pair added 86 for the fifth wicket before Lintern was dismissed for 21. Overall continued on to top score with 98 as the Bays declared at 7/166, a lead of 52 runs. Josh Jones (2/13) and James Lawrence (2/37) were the main wicket takers for Goolwa. Batting a second time, Goolwa finished on 2/41 from 24 overs with Jack Ward top scoring with 28. Kenny Sumner (3/56), Lachlan Hywood (2/16) and Sean Medlen (2/17) were the leading wicket takers for ‘Victor’. With 52 overs left in the day, the Vipers batted a second time and were bowled out for 89 in 49 overs. Tim Watson (37) and Bailey Martin (16 not out) were the leading batsmen for Victor Harbor. Ben Griffiths took 6/18 from 15 overs with his off-spinners, giving him the incredible match figures of 11/36, while Hannam chimed in with 2/10. Razorbacks make it 3-in-a-row in Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket

12 November 2023, 8:15 AM

Nairne made it three wins on the trot after defeating Bremer Callington by three wickets during round six action in the Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association (AEHCA) at Callington yesterday. The Cobras batted first and were in a good position at 2/103 with Alex Durbidge playing a dominant innings of 77 from 93 balls (11 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s). Unfortunately Durbidge received little support with just Graydon Brand (14) and Alfie Wenk (10) reaching double figures as Bremer Callington were bowled out for 133 in the 43rd over. Zac Llewellyn was the star with the ball for the Razorbacks with 5/15 from 4.2 overs. Caleb Walker (3/23) and Brodie Clarke (1/7) were the other wicket takers for Nairne. The Razorbacks run chase didn’t start well as they slumped to 5/43 and an upset appeared on the cards as Chad Harrop (17) joined Luke Timmins in an important 48-run stand for the sixth wicket. Once Timmins was dismissed for 43 (62 balls), Nairne were once again in strife at 7/98, still 36 runs from victory. Darren Milton (16 not out) and Tom May (11 not out) held their nerve to see their side over the line in the 37th over. Ryder Dolman (2/25) and Durbidge (2/37) were the leading wicket takers for the Cobras.Strathalbyn won their second game in a row after defeating Hahndorf by six wickets at Strathalbyn yesterday. Hahndorf batted first and their innings never got going as they found themselves at 9/93 with last pair Hudson Judd and Mitchell Bannister at the crease. This pair put their heads down and added 60 runs for the 10th wicket to raise their sides total to 153. Bannister made 31 (25 balls), while Hudson Judd finished with 26 not out (33 balls). Five Stallions bowlers took wickets including Matty Roberts (2/16), Lachlan Cutting (2/28) and Kane Gaiter (2/43). Strathalbyn had plenty of contributors in their run chase with Matt Harris (27 not out), Ashley Medhurst (17 not out), Nathan Pelle (16) and Mark Abbott (15) all making handy contributions. But it was experienced opener Luke Cousins who was the standout performer with 70 from 89 balls (10 x 4’s) as the Stallions cruised to victory in the 38th over. Hudson Judd completed a good day personally with figures of 3/16 off six overs for the Magpies. Langhorne Creek remained undefeated after a sixth consecutive victory, this time by 83 runs at Macclesfield. The Tigers batted first and posted a good score of 7/204 from their 45 overs. The innings was set up first by Jaspa Tonkin and then finished off by Troy Blackwell with both making valuable half-centuries. Tonkin made 59 from 86 balls (8 x 4’s), while Blackwell finished with a hard-hitting 53 not out from 47 balls (6 x 4’s). Luke Jones (2/34) and Joe Lions (2/38) were the multiple wicket takers for the Redbacks. Kieran O’Connell (27) and Lachie Barrett added 54 runs for the second wicket as ‘Maccy’ reached 1/66. That was as good as it got for the home side as they lost their last 9/55 to be bowled out for 121. Barrett stood out like a beacon for Macclesfield with 55 not out. Ben Warren (3/6) and Daniel Kropp (3/22) were the main destroyers for Langhorne Creek.Reigning premiers Lobethal got back on the winners list with a 42-run home win against local rival Woodside. ‘Lobey’ batted first and was in early trouble at 2/10 before skipper Mitch Weeks and Jeremy Hackett came together to add 60 runs for the third wicket. Weeks top scored with 50 (53 balls) and Hackett went on to make 40 (70 balls). Sam Graeber (23) and Lachlan Bates (20) chimed in with useful contributions to lift the Tigers to a score of 174 before being bowled out in the 41st over. Chris Baschiera was the best of the Warriors bowlers with figures of 4/17 (8.1) and he was well supported by Nick Johns (3/20) and Harrison Reid (3/43). James Bradley (32), Brad Collins (24) and Trent Young (22) made handy contributions for Woodside, but no batsman could push on to make the big score required as Woodside were bowled out in the 42nd over for 132. Six Lobethal bowlers took wickets including Dave Huxter (2/11), Hackett (2/31) and Lachlan Elsworthy (2/37).Ladder (after round 6)Langhorne Creek 24, Lobethal 20, Strathalbyn 16, Macclesfield 12, Nairne 12, Woodside 8, Hahndorf 4, Bremer Callington 0.Round 7 fixtures (home teams named first)  Bremer Callington v StrathalbynLanghorne Creek v HahndorfLobethal v Macclesfield Nairne v Woodside

Mylor won their first game of the season after defeating previously unbeaten Aldgate by six wickets during round five action in the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) at Aldgate Oval yesterday. Mylor won the toss and decided to bowl first and the move paid off early, with Aldgate in trouble at 2/11 in the 9th over. Mylor opening bowler Ben James claimed both wickets on his way to fine figures of 2/19 (9). Max Bilborow (12) and Jake Turnbull steadied the ship with a 32-run stand, then Shaun Atkins and Turnbull added 60 for the fourth wicket, before Turnbull departed for 37 (92 balls). Atkins continued on to top score with a hard-hitting 94 not out from 71 balls (9 x 4’s, 6 x 6’s), while Jack Woollard smashed 31 from just 13 balls (6 x 4’s, 1 x 6) as Aldgate posted 9/199 from their 45 overs. Peter Johns (2/51) was the other multiple wicket taker for Mylor. The visitors got off to a flier in the run chase with openers Tom Plant and Liam Tansell putting on 69 from just 50 balls before Tansell was dismissed for a quickfire 42 from 23 balls (4 x 4’s, 4 x 6’s). Alex Kern (29) added 55 runs with Plant and then James (32) put on 56 for the fourth wicket with Plant as Mylor reached 3/180. Turnbull (2/50) was the leading wicket taker for Aldgate.Meadows also won their first game for 2023/24 with a tight three-wicket win at home against Bridgewater. The Raiders batted first and were in all sorts of trouble early as they crashed to 5/30 in the 13th over. Peter Atkins (24) joined Jarrad Tait in a rescue mission as this pair added 85 runs for the sixth wicket before Tait went for 68 from 70 balls (8 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s). Bridgewater eventually were bowled out in the 45th over for 151. All six Meadows bowlers claimed wickets with Will Bevan-Giles (3/19), Rohan Reid (2/21) and Zack Robertson (2/23) leading the way. The Meadows run chase was dominated by Rohan Reid as he compiled a match-winning innings of 84 not out from 126 balls (6 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s) to see the Bulldogs home. There were some tense moments as Meadows slipped to 5/97 to give the Raiders a whiff of victory. Veteran Chad Dawe (21) added 37 runs for the sixth wicket with his skipper and despite losing their seventh wicket still 18 runs short of victory, Meadows completed the victory with nine balls to spare. Tait completed an excellent all-round game with the fine figures of 4/10 from his nine overs. Mount Lofty won their third game of the season with a tight two-wicket victory at Stirling. The Eagles batted first with their innings underpinned by acting captain Jack Read who top scored with 77 from 86 balls (6 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s). He was well supported by Sean McCullum (32) and Jacob Kemp (27 not out) as Stirling posted a competitive 6/192 from their 45 overs. Josh Healey was the unlikely hero with the ball for the Redcaps with the excellent return of 4/35 from his nine overs. Max Hawke (2/37) was the other wicket taker for the visitors. Josh Healey continued his good game as he opened the batting with 45 from 63 balls, while Josh Mitchell hit a quickfire 27 from 26 balls, but at 5/101, Stirling were slight favourites to pull off the victory. Tim Noble (25) joined Connor Milde (34) in a decisive partnership for the Redcaps as this pair added 72 runs for the sixth wicket to bring their side within sight of victory. Stirling fought back with three quick wickets and at 8/177, Mount Lofty needed 16 runs from 19 balls. Peter Giannes (10 not out) and Matt Pistola (6 not out) held their nerve, taking 13 runs from the 44th over to get their side home with seven balls to spare. Kemp (2/10) and Ezekiel Hemming (2/21) were the leading wicket takers for Stirling. Kangarilla won their second game in a row and are up to third spot on the HCA ladder following their 53-run win over the previously unbeaten Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) at Cherry Gardens yesterday. ‘Kangies’ batted first with Steve Featherstone (14) and Ryan Grimmond (25) adding 39 runs for the first wicket. After this promising start, wickets fell regularly as Kangarilla slipped to 6/78 and a score of under 100 looked a possibility. Enter Michael White who whacked 40 from just 18 balls to give the innings some much needed impetus. White’s brief innings included four boundaries and three maximums as Kangarilla were bowled out for 151 in the 40th over. Suresh Sripada (3/35), Sam Hill (2/14), Thomas Watton (2/17) and Beau Thomas (2/25) were the multiple wicket takers for SCIB. The home side were in all sorts of trouble early in the run chase as they slumped to 3/10 with Ben Evans removing Watton, Darcy Campbell and Hill without scoring. The in-form Aaron Thompson joined his skipper Adam Shearwood and this pair set about resurrecting the innings through a 48-run union for the fourth wicket. In his final over, Evans claimed the key wicket of Thompson for 20 (30 balls) to finish with the excellent figures of 4/26 (9). All six Langhorne Creek bowlers took wickets with Daniel Cleggett (3/30), Troy Blackwell (2/34) and Darcy Paech (2/45) leading the way. Daniel Kropp (20) and Jaspa Tonkin got Langhorne Creek off to a good start with a 42-run opening stand, before Brayden Frost joined Tonkin for a vital partnership. This pair added an important 84 runs for the third wicket before Frost went for 46 (50 balls). Tonkin continued on to make 80 from 110 balls (4 x 4’s, 1 x 6) as the visitors got across the line in the 44th over. The Magpies batted first and were in big trouble early on at 3/28 as Ben Montgomerie (22) joined Lachlan Huxtable to add 57 runs for the fourth wicket, followed by Ryan Trafford-Walker (22) adding 40 for the fifth wicket with Huxtable. Huxtable went on to make a fine 72 from 124 balls (10 x 4’s) as Hahndorf reached 9/150 from their 45 overs. William Brooks (3/16) and Caleb Walker (2/31) were the multiple wicket takers for the Razorbacks. Nairne were in early trouble at 4/56 with Zac Llewellyn making a quickfire 24 from 25 balls (5 x 4’s). Chad Harrop joined former captain Luke Timmins and this pair made sure of the victory for Nairne with an undefeated 96-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Harrop ended up with 24 not out (52 balls), while Timmins made a fine 76 not out from 91 balls (8 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s) as the winning runs came up in the 31st over. Woodside also won their second game in a row with a comprehensive eight-wicket win against Bremer Callington at Callington on Saturday. The Cobras batted first and struggled their way to 8/56 before the last two wickets added 55 runs for a total of 111. Only one Bremer Callington batsman reached double figures and that was Graydon Brand who played a lone hand of 66 not out from 131 balls (4 x 4’s, 1 x 6). Shane Druwitt was the star with the ball for the Warriors with the excellent figures of 4/10 from his nine-over spell. Nick Johns (3/30), Harrison Reid (2/20) and Chris Baschiera (1/26) were the other wicket takers for Woodside. Jamesson Kelly (1/3) and Brand (1/25) were the wicket takers for the Cobras. Strathalbyn got back on the winners list after defeating Macclesfield by four wickets at ‘Maccy’ on Saturday. The home side batted first and after being 4/36, recovered well to post a total of 167 before being bowled out in the 43rd over. The recovery was led in the main by all-rounder Lachlan Barrett who top scored with 72 from 116 balls (4 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s). David Schulze chipped in with a handy 38 (73 balls) with Extras (21) the third highest score. Stallions captain Brayden Gaiter (4/24), Lachlan Cutting (3/23) and Kane Gaiter (2/23) were the leading wicket takers. Strathalbyn were relatively untroubled in the run chase, although at 6/128 there was still a chance for the Redbacks to snatch an unlikely victory. Kane Gaiter (15 not out) and Riley Brook (9 not out) saw their side over the line after earlier knocks from Mark Abbott (51), Matthew Harris (31) and Luke Cousins (20) had set the Stallions on the road to victory. Craig Lallard (2/17) was the leading wicket taker for Macclesfield. Ladder (after round 5)Langhorne Creek 20, Lobethal 16, Macclesfield 12, Strathalbyn 12, Woodside 8, Nairne 8, Hahndorf 4, Bremer Callington 0.Round 6 fixtures (home teams named first)  Macclesfield v Langhorne Creek Nairne v Bremer Callington Strathalbyn v HahndorfLobethal v Woodside

Yankalilla are in a great position to win their third game in row after a good first day of their round four clash at Willunga on Saturday in the Great Southern Cricket Association (GSCA). The Tigers won the toss and batted first with their innings underpinned by opening batsman Aaron Smith. Smith made a fine 83 from 123 balls (9 x 4’s) as his side posted a competitive total of 200 before being bowled out in the 64th over. Chris Clark (28), Doug Jones (16) and David Barnes (14) also chimed in with handy contributions for Yankalilla. Rory Hanson (3/10), Simon Roberts (2/61) and Finlay Seers (2/61) were the leading wicket takers for the Demons. Willunga had six overs to get through at the end of the day and they are in trouble on 3/20 at stumps. Smith finished a great day for him personally with 2/5 from three overs, while Clark (1/15) was the other wicket taker.Cameron Bullard blazed 113 from 104 balls as Noarlunga posted a handy 6/215 from their 70 overs against Myponga-Sellicks on Saturday at Old Noarlunga. Dropped before he’d scored, Bullard made the Mudlarks pay with 11 boundaries before being dismissed with the score at 6/203. Travis Bronstein (31), Anthony Tucker (21), Mason Parry (16) and Matthew Spaan (16) chipped in with some useful runs for the Shoes as the Mudlarks bowlers battled hard. Vinnie Nizzola (2/51), Mitchell Farquhar (2/64) and Shaun Hutchinson (1/41) were the wicket takers for Myponga-Sellicks. Encounter Bay are in a good position to win their fourth game in a row as they travelled to Goolwa for their round four clash. Goolwa batted first and lost early wickets before Vic Robertson set about resurrecting the innings with a top-scoring innings of 49. Shaun Burger (16) and Luke Giddings (12) were the only other Magpies batsmen to reach double figures as they were bowled out in the 52nd over for 114. Encounter Bay skipper Blake Bailey was the chief destroyer with figures of 5/32 from 14 overs, while Chris Butler chipped in with 2/12 (11). The Bays had 18 overs to bat and reached 2/38 at stumps with Matt Overall (12 not out) and Sam Hoffmann (3 not out) to resume on day two. Josh Jones (2/13) has both wickets for the Magpies. Port Elliot are also in the box seat to go 4-0 to start the season after bowling Victor Harbor out for 114 on day one of their clash on the turf at ‘Victor’. The Bloods were made to battle for the last 90 minutes of the day however, as they went to stumps on 5/73, still 42 runs short of victory. Earlier the Vipers were sent in and were in early strife at 3/20 before skipper Josh Boyko (42) and Lachlan Hywood (29) added 69 for the fourth wicket. This was the only joy for the home team with the bat though, as they lost their last 7/25 to be bowled out in the 46th over for 114. Off-spinner Ben Griffiths was the standout bowler for Port Elliot with the fine figures of 5/18 from 9.1 overs and he was ably supported by skipper Joel Harris (2/12) and Ben Martin (2/13). Port Elliot had 24 overs to bat until stumps and finished the day on 5/73. Kangarilla bounce to second win of the season in Hills Cricket

Kangarilla won their second game of the season yesterday following a thrilling one-wicket victory against Mylor during round four action in the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) at Kangarilla. Mylor won the toss and decided to bat first with the decisive partnership of the innings coming between Tom Plant and Ben James. This pair came together at 2/35 and added 90 runs for the third wicket before James was dismissed for 36 (57 balls). Plant went on to top score with 84 from 134 balls (8 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s) as the Pipers finished on 6/174 from their 45 overs. Ryan Grimmond was the leading wicket taker for the home side with 3/41 (9). The run chase was tight throughout with ‘Kangies’ skipper Lachlan Knight (52), Grimmond (36) and Che Martinsen (28) putting their side in a good position at 2/97 with 15 overs remaining. Three quick wickets fell and at 5/117 it was anyone’s game with Ben Ryan coming to the crease. Ryan held his nerve and was still at the crease as the final over commenced with his side requiring six runs for victory. Two run-outs left the scores level with ‘Kangies’ nine wickets down before Ryan hit the last ball of the game to the boundary to see his side over the line. Ryan finished with 37 not out from 27 balls (4 x 4’s, 1 x 6). Oliver Barnes (2/32) was the leading wicket taker for Mylor, while skipper Michael Warburton bowled a miserly spell of 0/12 from his nine overs. The giant-killing run of Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) has continued after they defeated reigning premier Stirling by 25 runs at Stirling Oval yesterday. The home side won the toss and sent SCIB in and the move paid early dividends with the visitors slumping to 3/23 in the ninth over. Enter the in-form Aaron Thompson who partnered up with Andy Adams in a game-changing 87-run stand for the fourth wicket before Adams departed for 48 (93 balls). Ethan Dinning (22) then added 49 for the seventh wicket as Thompson continued on his merry way, bringing up a brilliant century, before finishing with 100 not out from 93 balls (13 x 4’s, 1 x 6). Thompson has now scored 208 runs this season without being dismissed! SCIB were eventually bowled out in the 45th over for 213. Harrison Webb (2/6), Chris Shaw (2/31) and Charlie Fryer (2/44) were the multiple wicket takers for Stirling. The Eagles' run chase started well with Jack Read (18) and Raph Baker (14) adding 34 runs for the first wicket, before three quick wickets saw the reigning premier in trouble at 3/46. The Eagles needed a partnership and they duly got one as Webb and Jacob Kemp came together to resurrect the innings. This pair added 134 runs for the fourth wicket and with five overs left, Stirling sat at 4/180 and needed 34 runs to win. The 41st over of the innings, bowled by Adams, completely turned the game on its head as four wickets fell with Stirling losing their last 6/8 to be bowled out in the 44th over for 188. Webb top scored with 76 from 80 balls (9 x 4’s, 1 x 6), while Kemp finished with 52 from 71 balls (4 x 4’s). Adams (3/38) completed a fine all-round double, while Suresh Sripada (2/16) and Sam Hill (2/30) chimed in with a couple of wickets each. Aldgate remained undefeated and on top of the ladder after securing a five-wicket win at Bridgewater yesterday. Bridgewater won the toss and elected to bat first with the trusty pair of Justin Summerill (20) and Luke Hoyle (45) adding 44 runs for the first wicket, before Jackson Hooper (24) put on 47 with Hoyle as the Raiders reached 1/91. After Shaun Atkins (2/26) removed Hoyle, Jack Woollard (2/41) made a double strike to have Aldgate on top with the home side at 4/99. Enter Aldgate skipper Jake Turnbull who completely turned the game in his side's favour with a spell of 6/11 from 8.5 overs including a hat trick to end the innings! After a promising start, Bridgewater lost their last 9/46 to be bowled out for 137 in the 39th over. Chris Ashby (21) was the other Bridgewater batsman to pass 20. Aldgate’s run chase didn’t start well with the in-form Josh Callaghan out first ball of the innings. Mitch Thomas (27) and James Anthony (16) steadied the ship, but at 5/66, the ‘Gaters’ were in strife. Playing-coach Atkins joined teenager Max Bilsborow at the crease and proceeded to smash an unbeaten 50 from just 32 balls. His innings included five boundaries and three ‘maximums’. Bilsborow contributed an important 26 not out (2 x 4’s, 1 x 6) as the winning runs came up in the 37th over. Jarrad Tait (2/16) and Summerill (2/31) were the most successful Bridgewater bowlers.Mount Lofty won their second game of the season and at the same time consigned Meadows to a 0-4 start to the season. The Redcaps batted first and posted a competitive total of 5/204 from their 45 overs. Josh Mitchell (37), Nick Justice (32) and Ryan Pistola (31) all made useful contributions, but it was left to skipper Jordan Neis-Beer to play the critical innings for his side. Neis-Beer came in at 1/5 and made a patient 84 from 127 balls (4 x 4’s). Brad Louch (2/35) was the leading wicket taker for Meadows. The Bulldogs acquitted themselves well in the first half of the run chase as they reached 3/89 in the 22nd over. Mitchell (1/19) claimed the big wicket of Rohan Reid for 42 (56 balls) and from then on it was all Mount Lofty as Meadows lost 7/53 to be bowled out for 142. Louch (26) and Chad Dawe (21) also made useful contributions for Meadows. Will Healey (3/26), Peter Giannes (3/50) and Connor Milde (2/15) were the leading wicket takers for Mount Lofty. Ladder (after round 4)Aldgate 24, Scott Creek Ironbank 24, Stirling 12, Bridgewater 12, Kangarilla 12, Mount Lofty 12, Mylor 0, Meadows 0.Round 5 fixtures (home teams named first)Meadows v BridgewaterScott Creek Ironbank v KangarillaStirling v Mount LoftyAldgate v Mylor
