The Cockle Divers played a good first half to lead by 30 points at the long break. The second half was even, with each side kicking four goals, as Port Noarlunga won 12.11 (83) to Cove 7.5 (47). Clint Calyun kicked three goals for ‘Porties’, while Jonah Dolman, Aaron Petersen, and Nick Steele all kicked two goals. Best players for the Cockle Divers included Liam O’Connor-Dawkins, Rhys McKay, Hamish Goss, Jesse-Jay Vaughan, and Tyler Hathaway. The Cobras’ best were Aaron Wordsworth, Jack Riddle, Ben Morrison, William Moore, and Michael Galley.Reigning premier Reynella are up to third spot on the ladder after defeating Happy Valley by 30 points. Cove Cobras remain undefeated after a thrilling four-point win against reigning premier Flagstaff Hill during round three action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition on Friday night.  The game was tight throughout, with ‘Flaggies’ leading by just two points at the last change. The Cobras kicked the only goal of the last quarter to win 4.3 (27) to 3.5 (23). Makayla Brown kicked three goals for the Cobras, while their best players included Jaime Norup, Ella Gill, Lauren Kenny, Dana O’Brien, and Kate Galley. Best players for the Falcons were Brooke Watson, Elouisa Thomas, Amber Cloughessy, Amelia Morriss, and Chloe Meyers. The other three games for the round were very one-sided affairs. Christies Beach beat Noarlunga by 160 points with Cadence Bryowsky kicking six goals for the Saints, while Melanie Koster was named best-on-ground. Langhorne Creek led by 10 points at three-quarter time, before the Demons rattled home with six goals to three in the final term, to win 11.17 (83) to 11.11 (77). Daniel Bass kicked four goals for Willunga, and he was well supported by Danny Juckers who kicked three majors. Mitch Cleggett kicked three goals for the Hawks. Best players for Willunga included Juckers, Bass, Cam Hutchens, Sam Renney, and Jed Redden. Rosie Shaw kicked five goals in a best-on-ground performance for Goolwa/Port Elliot, while Indiana Quaremba kicked three majors. Goolwa/Port Elliot started well to lead by two points at quarter time, before Willunga hit back to take a handy 14-point lead at the long break. The Magpies reduced the margin to seven points at the last change, before Willunga settled to win 7.1 (43) to 4.7 (31). Jessica Harris kicked three goals for Willunga, while Rosie Shaw snagged two majors for the Magpies. Best players for Willunga included Cleo Guilfoyle, Jodie Hunt, Katrice Turner, Abby Woodward, and Kiara Upitis. The Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition got underway today with several big wins in round one. The closest match was between reigning premier Flagstaff Hill and Christies Beach, with ‘Christies’ winning by 23 points. The win was set up by an excellent first term where they kicked three goals to none. The rest of the game was tight with Christies Beach running out winners 4.5 (29) to 1.0 (6). Cadence Bryowsky kicked two goals for Christies Beach, while Emma Hoppo was the sole goalkicker for Flagstaff Hill. Port Noarlunga started their season with a bang, courtesy of a whopping 202-point victory against Hackham. The Cockle Divers led by 60 points at quarter time, 92 points at halftime, and 145 points at the last change, before winning 30.22 (202) to 0.0 (0). Port Noarlunga had 13 different goalkickers with Jolande Wilson (6), Jessika O’Hanlon (5), and Nikki Parker (5) leading the way. Cove Cobras defeated newcomers Noarlunga by 97 points to open their 2023 season at Old Noarlunga today. The win was set up by a six goal to zero first term which saw the Cobras lead by 40 points at the first change. A further eight goals in the last three quarters saw Cove win 14.13 (97) to 0.0 (0). Makayla Brown kicked four goals for the Cobras. Cally Swalue (3), Jemima Buss (2), and Alesia Le Duff (2) were the other multiple goalkickers for Cove.Reynella also had a big win as they defeated Aldinga by 191 points at Aldinga. The Wine Flies had eight different goalkickers as they won 28.23 (191) to 0.0 (0). Flagstaff Hill are looking ominous after a huge 177-point win against Christies Beach during round three action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. It’s the second win in a row by more than 150 points for the Falcons. Flagstaff Hill led by 86 points at halftime, before kicking a further 16 goals in the second half to win 29.20 (194) to 2.5 (17). The Falcons had 13 different goalkickers including Sam Jacobs (6), Sam Smith (5), Aiden Grayson (3), Brad Patterson (3), and Josh Rosman (3). Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Reece Milsom, Patterson, Rosman, Cameron Blake, and Mackenzie Short. Christies Beach was best served by Rhys Mundy, Tom Truscott, Joel Andruszkiewicz, Brad Truscott, and Brock Montgomery.Noarlunga continued their undefeated start to the season with a 13-point win against Cove yesterday. The Shoes led by 24 points at the last change, but to the Cobras credit, they held Noarlunga goalless in the last quarter. The final scores were Noarlunga 11.8 (74) to Cove 9.7 (61). Tom Anderson kicked three goals for the Shoes, while Ryan Need and Lincoln Holder also kicked three goals for Cove. Bailey Hann, Hayden Case-Peach, Josh Beard, Luke Ross, and Jake Anderson were best for Noarlunga. Cove’s best players included Jackson Riddle, Need, Holder, Simon Hulme, and Riley Jones.Reigning premier Reynella won their second game of the season with a 33-point win at Aldinga. The Wine Flies led throughout to win a low-scoring affair 7.15 (57) to 3.6 (24). Daniel Harris was the leading goalkicker for the game with three goals for Reynella, while Talon Copley kicked two. Luke Watson, Cameron Jarrett, and Isaac Churchill were the goalkickers for Aldinga. Liam Reid, Copley, Lachlan McGuinness, Marc Borholm, and Tyler Davies were named best players for the Wine Flies. Best for Aldinga were Angus Stangewitz, Watson, Mitch Jarrett, Josiah Sheppard, and Ryder Kortman.Happy  Valley made it a perfect three-from-three with a 30-point win at Port Noarlunga yesterday. Scores were level at quarter time, before the Vikings kicked eight goals to four for the rest of the game to win 12.16 (88) to 8.10 (58). Corey Grocock kicked three goals for Happy Valley, while Nathaniel Paredes also kicked three goals for the Cockle Divers. Josh Dwyer-Sterzl was named best player for Happy Valley and he was well supported by Harry Vick, Tate Coleman, Liam Hamilton, and Joel Beeche. Reigning premier Western Districts got their Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) season off to the perfect start with a comprehensive 108-point win over Parndana yesterday. The Saints led by 60 points at halftime, before kicking a further 12 goals to four in the second half to win 22.14 (146) to 5.8 (38). Lleyton Hedges kicked eight goals in a best-on-ground display for Western Districts, while Lloyd Coulson kicked five majors. Korelle Wintinna kicked two goals for the Roosters. Joining Hedges in the best players for the Saints were Tate Barrett, Nathan Stock, Caleb Whittle, and Dylan Lockett. Parndana’s best included Zach Trethewey, Trad McMulkin, and Bailey Gaskin.Wisanger started their 2023 campaign with a big 120-point win against Dudley United. The Panthers led by 26 points at quarter time, 68 points at halftime, and 82 points at the last change, before winning 25.10 (160) to 6.4 (40).
