Myponga-Sellicks are celebrating their first win in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition after defeating Goolwa/Port Elliot by seven points on Sunday at Goolwa. The Mudlarks led by 10 points at the last change, before holding on to win 3.6 (24) to 2.5 (17). Courtney Gum, Charlotte Collins and Tasiah Wright were the goalkickers for Myponga-Sellicks. Rachel Wood and Rosie Shaw kicked the Magpies’ goals. Grace Deacon, Carla Humphrys, Tara Ludlow, Collins and Sophie Magor were named as best players for the Mudlarks. Best for the Magpies included Renee Moon, Megan Hoad, Annabelle Mooney, Kerrie-Ann Moon and Indiana Quaremba.Willunga stayed top of the ladder with a tough 16-point win against McLaren Districts last Friday night. The Demons led at every change before winning 6.8 (44) to 4.4 (28). Abby Woodward kicked two goals in a best-on-ground display for Willunga, while Sally Fuller also kicked two goals for McLaren Districts. Other good players for the Demons included Kirstin Remfrey, Jodie Hunt, Tessa Kohn and Kiara Upitis. Best players for the Eagles were Caitlin Ross, Emily Rowe, Ally Bailey, Layla Rogers and Kelli Nijhuis.Yankalilla/Encounter Bay consolidated their spot in the top-four after a comfortable 40-point win against Victor Harbor at Goolwa on Sunday. Jaimi Griffen continued her excellent recent form for the Stingrays with another best-on-ground display, and she was well supported by Kate Sanders, Tegan Cross, Georgia Weatherspoon and Kimberley Rowe. Elena Earl hit the scoreboard with two goals for the victors. Port Noarlunga consolidated their position in the top-four with a hard-fought five-point victory against reigning premier Flagstaff Hill during round six action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition yesterday. ‘Flaggies’ held a slender one-point lead at halftime in a tough and low scoring affair. ‘Porties’ kicked the only two goals of the third term to take a handy 12-point lead at the last change. The Falcons kicked the only goal of the last quarter but ultimately fell short as the Cockle Divers won 4.9 (33) to 4.4 (28). Samantha Lynch kicked two goals for Port Noarlunga, while Elizabeth Johnson also kicked two goals for Flagstaff Hill. Best players for ‘Porties’ included Elisha Scriven, Charmaine Lynch, Samantha Lynch, Philippa Worthley and Jessica Couch. Flagstaff Hill was best served by Johnson, Amber Cloughessy, Rachel Crockart, Emily Brockhurst and Brooke Watson.Reynella maintained top spot on the ladder with a 174-point win against Noarlunga at Reynella on Sunday. The Cobras led by 43 points at quarter time, 76 points at halftime, and 119 points at three quarter time, before winning 25.21 (171) to 0.0 (0). The Cobras had 11 different goalkickers with Jaime Norup kicking seven majors in a best-on-ground display. Rachel Littlefield supported Norup with five goals of her own. Joining Norup and Littlefield in the best players for Cove were Georgia Hayford, Kate Galley, Jasmine Dietrich and Tamara Harrison. Victor Harbor moved inside the top-three with a 34-point victory against Mount Compass during round eight action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) yesterday. Scores were level at quarter time, before ‘Victor’ kicked five goals to one in the second quarter to take a handy 25-point lead at halftime. The ‘Roos kicked eight goals to seven in the second half to win 17.7 (109) to 12.3 (75). Victor Harbor skipper Jesse McKinnon was best-on-ground and he was well supported by Heath Treloar, Jackson Elmes, Dylan Kleinig and Tom Neville. Michael Ross kicked four goals for the ‘Roos, while Rhys Mutch and Sam Overall kicked three goals each. Adam Hunter, Lochie Nash, Tomas Vitkunas, Matthew King and William Zimmermann were named best players for Mount Compass. Tom Pinyon continued his good season with five goals for the Bulldogs.Myponga-Sellicks consolidated their spot in the top-three with a 26-point win against 2022 runners-up Willunga at Myponga yesterday. The Mudlarks’ Harrison Cock continued his excellent season with a best-on-ground display, with other good players for the winners being Sam Kennedy, Ben Kennedy, Jake Spinks and Luke Whitford. Jayden Scott was Myponga-Sellicks’ leading goalkicker with three majors, giving him 28 goals for the season. Best players for the Demons included Brett Miegel, Sam Renney, Nick Scanlan, Brad Haskett and Sam Tregenza. Daniel Lee was the only multiple goalkicker for Willunga with three goals. Strathalbyn won their fourth game of 2023 with a 40-point win against bottom side Yankalilla. The game was still in the balance at three quarter time as the Roosters led by 19 points. ‘Strath’ finished strongly, kicking five goals in the last term, to win 16.14 (110) to 11.4 (70). Ben Simounds was a star up forward for the Roosters with seven goals, giving him 27 for the season. Strathalbyn skipper Marc Elliott and Mitchell Godfrey kicked three goals each, as did James Hargreaves for the Tigers. Veteran Mark Tucker was named best for the Roosters and he was well supported by Simounds, Cooper Machin, Jacob Wright and Jack Gilbert. Best players for Yankalilla included Hargreaves, Mitchell Schwerdt, Angus Weir, Jacob Parsons and Hugo Johnston. Langhorne Creek also won their fourth game of the season after a tight tussle with Goolwa/Port Elliot saw the Hawks come out on top 10.17 (77) to 9.13 (67). Goolwa/Port Elliot got off to an excellent start as they led by 22 points at quarter time. Langhorne Creek hit back in the next two quarters to take a slender two-point lead at the final change. The Hawks proved too strong in the end, kicking four goals to two in the last quarter, to win by 10 points. Caleb Howell kicked three majors for the Hawks, while Justin Watson also kicked three goals for the Magpies. Tom Derham, Jarrod Kellock, Howell, Mitchell Cleggett and Jack Hall were named best for the Hawks, while Brett Heintze, Daniel Fry, Jacob Hughes, Jordan Turner and Lucas Hughes were best for the Magpies.McLaren Districts won their 28th straight game with a comfortable 40-point win at home against Encounter Bay. The win was set up by a dominant first quarter that saw the Eagles kick 5.7 (37) to no score to lead by 37 points at the first change. The rest of the game was pretty even as the reigning premier won 12.10 (82) to 5.12 (42). McLaren Districts skipper Brett Ellis was best on ground, while other good players for the Eagles were Todd McKay, Alex Moyle, Daniel Marr and Jamie Smith. The game was tight throughout with Morphett Vale leading by just one point at the last change. Each side kicked three goals in the last quarter as the Emus held on to win 10.4 (64) to 9.7 (61). Dylan Williams starred up forward for the home side with five goals, while Lincoln Holder kicked three goals for the Cobras. Best players for Morphett Vale included Robert Schindler-Taylor, Williams, Jack Dal Santo, Julian Mardigan and Connor Gilby. Goolwa/Port Elliot are up to second spot on the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) ladder following their six-point win against McLaren Districts during round eight action of the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition at Yankalilla yesterday. The Magpies got off to a great start with three goals in the opening term to lead by 16 points at the first break. The next two quarters were even but Goolwa/Port Elliot still led by 18 points with a quarter to go. The Eagles wouldn’t go away and kicked the only two goals of the final term as the Magpies held on to win 4.1 (25) to 2.7 (19). Indiana Quaremba kicked two goals for Goolwa/Port Elliot, while Sally Fuller also kicked two goals for McLaren Districts. Renee Moon, Cassie Burrows, Tamra Sanders, Indi Miller and Tessa Grant were named best players for the Magpies. For the Eagles, Layla Rogers, Caitlin Ross, Katrina Munzberg, Ally Bailey and Emily Rowe were named their best players. Yankalilla/Encounter Bay won their fourth game of the season after defeating Myponga-Sellicks by just six points at Yankalilla. Fresh off their first win last week, Noarlunga hosted reigning premier Flagstaff Hill at Old Noarlunga on Saturday during round five action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition. The Falcons, who also won their first match last week, got off to a fast start to lead by 36 points at quarter time. A further 13 goals to one in the last three quarters, saw Flagstaff Hill win 20.13 (133) to 2.3 (15). Amber Cloughessy kicked eight goals for ‘Flaggies’ and she was well supported by Emily Brockhurst who snared seven majors. Steph Alderman, after three goals last week, and Elyshiah Forrest were the goalkickers for the Shoes. Best players for the Falcons were Elizabeth Johnson, Cloughessy, Emily Brockhurst, Rachel Crockart and Amelia Morriss. For the Shoes, Colette Barnard, Megan Weetra and Forrest were amongst their best players. Christies Beach won their fourth game of the season with a tight 13-point win against Port Noarlunga in a top-three clash at Bice Oval today. The Saints led at every change before winning 5.4 (34) to 3.3 (21). Chelsea Salvemini was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two goals for ‘Christies’. The Sharks had other ideas as they kicked four goals in the third term to reduce the margin to a solitary point at the last change. The last quarter was a real arm wrestle with Aldinga kicking the only goal to win 8.9 (57) to 7.11 (53). Sam Bentley was named best for Aldinga and he was well supported by Mitchell Jarrett, Brady O’Hanlon, Jack Langdon and Matthew Beinke. The Emus’ best were Blake Carter, Jack Dal Santo, Max Sampson, Harry Clarkson and Scott Carpenter.Noarlunga continued their unbeaten start to 2023 with a 21-point home win against Happy Valley. Myponga-Sellicks led by just four points at quarter time, before kicking six goals to two in the second quarter to take a handy 28-point lead to halftime. It was more of the same in the second half as the Mudlarks kicked a further nine goals to three to win 16.8 (104) to 5.8 (38). Jayden Scott was a star for Myponga-Sellicks with seven goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Darcy Clifford kicked two goals for the Hawks. Joining Scott in the best players for the Mudlarks were Ryan Kelly, Harrison Cock, Nathan Hedger and Scott Ogilvie. Western Districts remained undefeated and top-of-the-ladder, after defeating Kingscote by 47 points during round five action in Kingscote yesterday. The game was tight in the first half with Kingscote holding a slender four-point lead at halftime. The second half was one-way traffic, as the reigning premier Saints piled on eight goals to zero to win 13.9 (87) to 5.10 (40). Western Districts skipper Lleyton Hedges led the way up forward with five goals, and he was well supported by Josh Graham and Lloyd Coulson who kicked three goals each. Best players for the Saints included Graham, Damon Weatherspoon, Tate Barrett, Nathan Stock and Wade Tucker. For Kingscote, Lachlan Summers, Zak Edwards, Declan Hardy-Corby, Roland Ah Chee and Jack Grimes were named their sides best players. Wisanger remained in second spot on the KIFL ladder with a big 126-point win at Parndana. Yankalilla/Encounter Bay Stingrays won their third game of the season with a thrilling one-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot during round seven action of the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL). In a low-scoring affair, the Stingrays won 2.8 (20) to 3.1 (19). Erin Smith and Dakota Oniszk kicked one goal each for the Stingrays, while Cassie Burrows, Caitlin Curyer, and Indiana Quaremba were the goalkickers for the Magpies. Best players for the triumphant Stingrays included Kimberley Rowe, Jaimi Griffen, Kelesha Rewiti-Edwards, Jemma Ellis, and Georgia Weatherspoon. The game was tight throughout, with Mount Compass leading by just two points at the last change. The Hawks finished well, kicking three goals to one in the final term, to win 9.8 (62) to 7.12 (54). Mitch Cleggett (3), Jack Keynes (2), and Jarrod Kellock (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Hawks, while Tom Pinyon kicked three goals for the Bulldogs, and Jordan Hooper slotted two majors. Best players for Langhorne Creek included Curtis Perrey, Peter Reichelt, Kellock, Shannon Jones, and Scott Tonkin.
