Morphett Vale claimed another major scalp yesterday to move up to third spot on the ladder following their comprehensive 51-point win at Reynella during round 13 action of the Southern Football League (SFL). A week after defeating reigning premier Flagstaff Hill, the Emus were rampant in the second half against top side Reynella. The first half was tight with Morphett Vale taking a slender two-point lead to halftime. The second half was all Morphett Vale as they kicked eight goals to zero to win 14.7 (91) to 5.10 (40). Daniel Noble kicked four goals for the Emus and Dylan Williams and Khori Mills-Richardson kicked three goals each. Best players for Morphett Vale were Mills-Richardson, Jack Dal Santo, Liam Corrie, Aiden Baker and Anthony Biemans. For Reynella, Bailey Marshman, Sam Whitbread and James Smith were among their best players. Cove Cobras won their sixth game of the season and are now just percentage outside the top-five after defeating Happy Valley by 19 points at Hallett Cove on Saturday. The final scores were Cove 10.17 (77) to Happy Valley 8.10 (58). Ryan Need kicked four goals for the Cobras, while Ben Geytenbeek slotted three goals for the Vikings. The Cobras had plenty of good players including Alex Shaw, Damian Roach, Michael Galley, Lincoln Holder and Jayj Butler-Chaseling. Happy Valley were served best by Kieren Bartlett, Tate Coleman, Dwayne Ruddock, Nick Wilde and Lachlan Hamilton.Noarlunga consolidated their spot in the top-three with a convincing 90-point win at Port Noarlunga. The first half was tight with Aldinga leading by seven points at the long break. The second half was all Christies Beach as they kicked seven goals to two to win 11.13 (79) to 7.11 (53). Blake Carter was the leading goalkicker on the field with five goals for the Saints, while Joel Richards kicked two goals for the Sharks. The Saints’ Jacob Crate continued his good season to be best-on-ground and he was well supported by Ben Powell, Aidan Coakley, Lee Hoey and Josh de Roode. Goolwa/Port Elliot are still in the hunt for a top-two spot after their eight-point win against Victor Harbor during round 13 action in the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League earlier today. Things weren’t looking good for the Magpies as ‘Victor’ took a 12-point lead at halftime, but Goolwa/Port Elliot steadied as they kicked three goals to zero in the second half to win 3.5 (23) to 2.3 (15). Hannah Crump, Laura Jones and Kerrie-Ann Moon were the goalkickers for the Magpies, while Jaimi Tabb and Lily Baxter were the goalkickers for the ‘Roos. Alana Browne, Tayla Hoad, Crump, Rachel Wood and Rachel Searle were named best players for the Magpies. Reynella moved a step closer to the minor premiership following their 65-point win at Christies Beach during round 10 action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition yesterday. The Wine Flies led all day to win 10.11 (71) to 1.0 (6). Reynella skipper Caitlin Williams kicked four goals, while Rachael Farlam kicked the only goal for ‘Christies’. Zannah Loxton, Sarah Bourn, Catherine Quinn, Tyler Davies, Emma James and Dominique Byrne were named best players for the undefeated Reynella side. For Christies Beach, Melanie Koster, Brina Thompson-Fitzgerald, Monique Hepden, Paige Simmons and Isabella Zito were their best.Flagstaff Hill flexed their muscles with a huge 188-point win against Hackham. It was a tight clash at Goolwa with the Eagles coming out on top 3.6 (24) to 1.5 (11). Tiffany Copley, Sheena Peters and Lauren Reynolds were the goalkickers for McLaren, while the Magpies’ only goal was kicked by Jessica Bailey. McLaren Eagles enhanced their tag as premiership favourites after defeating reigning premier Willunga by 27 points during round 12 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at McLaren Vale yesterday. The Eagles have been flawless this season and they continued their undefeated run with a 14.11 (95) to 10.8 (68) victory against the Demons. McLaren had plenty of good players including Joel Vandeleur, Brett Ellis, Ashley Goodieson, Matthew Merrett (4 goals), Daniel Marr and Riley Brown. Best for Willunga included Brad Haskett, Brett Miegel, Billy Cook, Cam Hutchens and Braden Altus, while Daniel Bass kicked three goals. Victor Harbor kept the pressure on for a spot in the top-five with an important 18-point win at Encounter Bay. The win for the ‘Roos sees three teams on 14 points in equal fourth spot on the ladder. The final score yesterday was Victor Harbor 13.10 (88) to Encounter Bay 10.10 (70). Jackson Elmes continued his excellent season for ‘Victor’ with five goals in a best-on-ground performance. He was ably supported by Lachlan Borrillo, Jesse McKinnon, Harry Vincent and Nick Dowling. The Falcons started the better of the two teams to take an eight-point lead at quarter time, before extending it to 12 points at the long break. Morphett Vale came out firing in the third quarter to kick five goals to one, and they led by 13 points at the last change. A further four goals to two in the last term saw the Emus win 13.6 (84) to 9.8 (62). Dylan Williams kicked six goals in a best-on-ground performance for Morphett Vale and he was well supported by Liam Corrie, Bodie Sowter, Robert Schindler-Taylor, Matthew Thomas and Braydan Hartwig. Port Noarlunga kept the pressure on the top two teams with a comfortable 95-point win against Hackham during round nine action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition on Sunday. The Cockle Divers led by 28 points at quarter time, 57 points at halftime and 80 points at the last change, before winning 13.17 (95) to 0.0 (0). Teegan Mesecke kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance for 'Porties', while Abby Dittmar, Belinda Gale and Deanna Ortuso kicked two goals each. Morphett Vale started well to lead by eight points at quarter time, before Noarlunga hit back in the second term to take a nine-point lead at halftime. The Shoes kicked five goals to four after the long break to win 10.4 (64) to 7.8 (50). Vic Robertson (4), Tom Anderson (3) and Zac Williams (3) were the goalkickers for Noarlunga, while Daniel Noble kicked four goals for Morphett Vale. Best players for the Shoes were Jarrad Liebelt, Michael Balas, Vic Robertson, Bailey Snelling and Tom Anderson. Strathalbyn led by eight points at halftime, before Yankalilla kicked two goals to zero in the second half to win 4.5 (29) to 3.5 (23). Indi Miller was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two goals for ‘Strath’. Wisanger consolidated their spot in the top two following a convincing 117-point win over bottom side Dudley United during round nine action in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) on Saturday. Wisanger led by 15 points at quarter time, 46 points at halftime and 85 points at the last change before winning 24.18 (162) to 7.3 (45). Sam Clifford starred up forward for the Panthers with seven goals, while Kyrrell Barton kicked two goals for the Eagles. Nick Berry, Jackson Lockett, Clifford, Liam Sampson and Jai Turner were named best players for Wisanger. For Dudley United, Peter Reichelt, Sam McLeay and Chris Denholm were among their best players. Western Districts won their seventh game of the season with a comfortable 84-point win at Kingscote. The Saints led at every change to win 20.15 (135) to 8.3 (51). Boom recruit Joel Cross kicked seven goals for the Saints in a best-on-ground display, while Lleyton Hedges kicked five goals to give him 34 majors for the season. Paul Green was a standout for Kingscote with five goals. Joining Cross in the best players for Western Districts were Tate Barrett, Tim Larcombe, Brad Crabb and Henry Hammat.
