Flagstaff Hill moved inside the top-three following their 23-point win against Noarlunga during round 14 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. It was a low-scoring first half with ‘Flaggies’ taking a handy 16-point lead to halftime in perfect conditions on their home ground. The Falcons extended their lead to 28 points at three quarter time and the game appeared over. The Shoes had other ideas as they kicked three goals in the first five minutes of the last term to reduce the margin to just 10 points. However, Flagstaff Hill steadied to win 12.13 (85) to 9.8 (62). Nathan Beenham kicked four goals for the Falcons, while Reece Martell and Sam Miller kicked two goals each for the Shoes. Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Nash Mitchell, Luke Beenham, Michael Shearer, Nathan Beenham and David Kearsley. Best for Noarlunga were Callum Gaspari, Zac Williams, Tom Mott, Patrick Marshall and Jake Birch. Christies Beach kept their slim finals hopes alive with a come-from-behind victory against Cove at Bice Oval yesterday. Helped by accurate kicking, Cove led by 11 points at the last change and were looking good for their seventh win of the season. ‘Christies’ had other ideas as they slammed on six goals to one in the final term to win 16.14 (110) to 14.4 (88). Blake Carter, Jacob Crate and Josh de Roode all kicked three goals for the Saints, while Ryan Need kicked five goals for the Cobras. Aidan Coakley continued his excellent season for Christies Beach to be named their best player and he was well supported by Michael Mazey, James Conlon, Lee Hoey and Josiah Sheppard. Best for the Cobras included Jake McCreery, Oliver Moore, Dylan Coe, William Moore and Aaron Wordsworth. Reynella are another step closer to the minor premiership after a huge 161-point win at Port Noarlunga. The Wine Flies led by 40 points at quarter time, 85 points at halftime, and 122 points at the last change, before winning 30.16 (196) to 5.5 (35). Bailey Marshman kicked 13 goals for Reynella in a best-on-ground performance, while Callan Semple kicked eight majors. Joining Marshman in the best players for the Wine Flies were Tom Schirmer, Sam Whitbread, Semple and Dylan Roser. Best on a tough day for the Cockle Divers were Jordan Zeitz, Kaleb Hesse and Josh Johns.Happy Valley consolidated their spot in the top-five with a convincing 118-point win against Aldinga. The Vikings led by 79 points at halftime, and a further 10 goals to four in the second half saw them win 24.12 (156) to 5.8 (38). Western Districts wrapped up the minor premiership with a 40-point win against reigning premier Wisanger during round 12 action in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) today. Western Districts started well to lead by 37 points at quarter time, before Wisanger hit back in the second term to trail by just 18 points at halftime. The third quarter would prove pivotal as the Saints piled on nine goals to two to take a match winning 58-point lead to the last change. Wisanger won the last quarter but Western Districts proved too strong as they won 18.6 (114) to 11.8 (74). Peter Hoban, Joel Cross, Cameron Florance, Tate Barrett and Tim Larcombe were named best players for the Saints, while Dusty Cross, Liam Sampson, Jason Fryar, Luke Stewart and Jayden Kingi were named best for the Panthers. The ‘Roos led by 19 points at halftime, before kicking 10 goals to three in the second half to win 16.18 (114) to 7.6 (48). Sam Basham and Jackson Elmes starred for ‘Victor’ with five goals each, while Ben Simounds kicked three majors for Strathalbyn. Best players for Victor Harbor included Jesse McKinnon, Elmes, Zac Dowling, Rhys Bartram and Dylan Kleinig. The Roosters’ best included Cooper Machin, Adam Clark and Simounds.Myponga/Sellicks consolidated their spot in the top-three with a come-from-behind 32-point win against Encounter Bay at Myponga. The Bays got off to a great start to lead by 27 points at quarter time, and they still led by 17 points at halftime, before the Mudlarks came out firing in the third quarter. A week after defeating reigning premier Flagstaff Hill, the Emus were rampant in the second half against top side Reynella. The first half was tight with Morphett Vale taking a slender two-point lead to halftime. The second half was all Morphett Vale as they kicked eight goals to zero to win 14.7 (91) to 5.10 (40). Daniel Noble kicked four goals for the Emus and Dylan Williams and Khori Mills-Richardson kicked three goals each. Best players for Morphett Vale were Mills-Richardson, Jack Dal Santo, Liam Corrie, Aiden Baker and Anthony Biemans. Things weren’t looking good for the Magpies as ‘Victor’ took a 12-point lead at halftime, but Goolwa/Port Elliot steadied as they kicked three goals to zero in the second half to win 3.5 (23) to 2.3 (15). Hannah Crump, Laura Jones and Kerrie-Ann Moon were the goalkickers for the Magpies, while Jaimi Tabb and Lily Baxter were the goalkickers for the ‘Roos. McLaren Eagles enhanced their tag as premiership favourites after defeating reigning premier Willunga by 27 points during round 12 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at McLaren Vale yesterday. The Eagles have been flawless this season and they continued their undefeated run with a 14.11 (95) to 10.8 (68) victory against the Demons. McLaren had plenty of good players including Joel Vandeleur, Brett Ellis, Ashley Goodieson, Matthew Merrett (4 goals), Daniel Marr and Riley Brown. Best for Willunga included Brad Haskett, Brett Miegel, Billy Cook, Cam Hutchens and Braden Altus, while Daniel Bass kicked three goals. Victor Harbor kept the pressure on for a spot in the top-five with an important 18-point win at Encounter Bay. The win for the ‘Roos sees three teams on 14 points in equal fourth spot on the ladder. The final score yesterday was Victor Harbor 13.10 (88) to Encounter Bay 10.10 (70). Jackson Elmes continued his excellent season for ‘Victor’ with five goals in a best-on-ground performance. He was ably supported by Lachlan Borrillo, Jesse McKinnon, Harry Vincent and Nick Dowling. Jake Tarca kicked five goals for the Bays with their best players including Callum Tonkin, Tyson Neale, Marcus Lippett, Jack Crispin and Cohen Pettitt. Strathalbyn maintained fifth spot on the ladder, and in the process put a dent in arch-rival Langhorne Creek’s finals hopes with a comfortable 38-point win at ‘Strath’. The final score was Strathalbyn 14.7 (91) to Langhorne Creek 7.11 (53). Best players for the Roosters were Xavier Redden, Marc Elliott, Lachlan Butler, Ben Simounds (4 goals) and Richard O’Grady. Caleb Howell and Mitch Cleggett kicked two goals each for Langhorne Creek, while their best players included Troy Blackwell, Scott Tonkin, Howell, Darcy Clifford and Brodie O’Dea.Myponga/Sellicks consolidated their spot in the top-three with a 39-point win at Yankalilla. The home side put up a good fight to only trail by 23 points at the last change, before the Mudlarks kicked four goals to two in the final term to win 15.14 (104) to 10.5 (65). Matthew Flintham and Jayden Scott kicked three goals each for the ‘Muddies’,  while Matt James slotted five majors for the Tigers. Best players for Myponga/Sellicks were Tom Carroll, Ben Kennedy, Harrison Cock, Elliot Chalmers and Sam Kennedy. Yankalilla were best served by Angus Weir, Joel Kay, Jack Fitzgerald, Matt James and Will Hogben.Mount Compass won their fourth game of the season with a comfortable 60-point win over Goolwa/Port Elliot. The Bulldogs led at every change before winning 12.13 (85) to 3.7 (25). Corey Grove kicked three goals in a best-on-ground display for ‘Compass’ and he was well supported by Ziggy Vitkunas (3 goals), Klaus Simons, Bailey Hann, Tom Vitkunas and Tom Pinyon.
