Strath needed to add some more runs and did by drawing some errors and a safe hit to the outfield by Georgia Tomkinson and with great base running they brought another two runs home with Hahndorf making an out at home, an out at second and an out at first.Hahndorf’s third turn at bat only produced two hits with Strath’s pitcher/catcher combo of Norris to Martin making two K2’s and Cutting taking a great line drive catch to hold them scoreless again. Some more walks were gained by Strath in the fifth but they could only get one run across the plate with Hahndorf’s Luxon taking another catch, Williams taking a catch and an out made at first ending the innings.Strath’s defence was great in the sixth allowing only one run home after a two base hit to Williams with K. Pash now at third making two outs at first and Cutting taking another catch. Strath needed to add to their tally to keep themselves in front but they were unable to with Hahndorf’s Luxon making two outs at second base and Weatherstone another K2.In the seventh and final innings of the game Strath needed to hold Hahndorf but with some walks, a hit to King and two basers to Luxon and Williams they would bring five runs home with Strath’s new pitcher K. Pash making two K2’s and Cutting another catch at short. Strath now needed to bat well and got runners on with Hahndorf making another K2 and an out at home but this was followed by an overthrow error which allowed Strath’s runners to get two home before a catch was taken at third by Keira Trevorrow to end the innings and the game with Strath falling two runs short. Congratulations to both teams in making it to the Grand Final with Hahndorf coming out on top in a three hour marathon game 12 runs to 10 but Strathalbyn look forward to going one better next season.C Grade Women’s Grand Final - Strathalbyn v RedsoxAfter finishing fourth after the minor round Strathalbyn worked their way through the finals to take part in the Grand Final against Redsox and batted first. Lobethal won their fourth Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association (AEHCA) ‘A’ grade premiership in a row after defeating Hahndorf by 21 runs in a high-scoring decider at Hahndorf Oval yesterday. Lobethal won the toss and decided to bat first with skipper Mitch Weeks and Tanner King adding 92 runs for the first wicket before King departed for 34 (29 balls). Weeks went on to top score with 65 from 49 balls (7 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s), as the Tigers reached the drinks break in a strong position at 3/126. Hahndorf battled hard to get back into the game with Michael Shanhan (2/35) and Ryan Trafford-Walker (2/40) taking two wickets each, but a 75-run sixth wicket stand between Jeremy Hackett and Matt Martin put Lobethal back on top. Martin made 32 (26 balls), while Hackett finished with 57 not out (59 balls). Some late hitting from Steve Huxter, who smacked 25 from 16 balls, lifted the Tigers to an imposing 8/263 from their 45 overs. Lachlan Huxtable (2/24) was the other multiple wicket taker for the Magpies. It was a daunting task for Hahndorf, however they started well with Paul Allegretto and Sam Williams adding 62 for the first wicket before Allegretto departed for 23 (29 balls). Magpies skipper Dan Jenner then joined Williams and this pair lifted the score to 1/119 as the home side started to believe. King was brought into the attack and the change reaped immediate dividends with King dismissing the dangerous Williams for 62 from 63 balls (6 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s). Jenner continued on to make 59 (75 balls), but at 7/186 all seemed lost for the Magpies. Trafford-Walker had other ideas as he smashed a quickfire 32 from 23 balls (3 x 6’s), but when he was dismissed in the 44th over, the game was up as the Magpies were bowled out for 242. Sam Graeber was the standout bowler for Lobethal with figures of 6/37 from nine overs to claim man-of-the-match honours. Lobethal are once again the kings of the AEHCA with their fourth consecutive premiership, as well as winning the A2 premiership, while Hahndorf, who only won five games last season, can hold their heads high after making the Grand Final.

Stirling won their third Hills Cricket Association (HCA) A1 premiership in four years after defeating Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) by nine wickets at Stirling Oval yesterday. Scott Creek Ironbank skipper Adam Shearwood won the toss and decided to bat first on a picture-perfect Adelaide Hills day. Unfortunately for SCIB, that was as good as it got, as they slumped to 4/10 in the eighth over. Stirling were on fire in the field with Eagles ‘keeper Sean McCullum pulling off an excellent leg-side stumping off the bowling of James Richards (2/24), while the dangerous Aaron Thompson was dismissed via a one-handed catch from Jack Pick from the bowling of veteran Pete Fryer (1/16). Stuart Norton (20) and Matthew Dunn (14) tried to lift their side but it was to no avail, as SCIB were rolled for just 75. Ezekiel Hemming was the standout seam bowler for the Eagles as he snared 4/8 from 6.3 overs, while Pick bowled an incredibly economical spell to took 3/7 from his nine overs. Stirling wasted no time in the run chase with Sean McCullum and skipper Jack Read putting on 50 runs for the first wicket off just 25 balls before McCullum went for 16 (12 balls). Read was unstoppable as he brought up the winning runs in just the ninth over with his third consecutive ‘maximum’, as he finished on 49 not out from 21 balls (3 x 4’s, 5 x 6’s). Lachlan Knight (1/17) was the sole wicket taker for Scott Creek Ironbank. Stirling’s depth with the ball shone out in the finals as they took 20 wickets for just 140 runs in their two finals, while it was a great way for Fryer to finish his ‘A’ grade career at Stirling with a second premiership.

Strath’s second baser VonBlanckensee took a catch and a runner was called out for leaving their base early for the first two outs which was followed by Danielle Guilfoyle and Jemma Langford both hitting to the outfield but they were left stranded on base with pitcher Rebecca Sims making the out at first to hold them scoreless. The second innings for Strath had a great bunt by Brydie Spriggs, a single to Sims and a double to Monica Spriggs and with great base stealing they brought another five runs home with Hahndorf’s Lawson again picking off the lead runner then taking a great line drive catch with centre Langford also taking a great catch to send them from the diamond. Hahndorf’s second turn at bat produced safe hits to Liebelt, Anna Bell and Lawson with the highlight going to Elsie Bloffwitch with a home run but they were only able to bring home two runs with Strath’s catcher Amber Crawford taking a foul catch and then quickly throwing to first to catch the runner short of their ground for a double play and B. Noah Bell (30) and Dave Wescombe (40) steadied the ship with a 63-run fourth wicket stand, while Chris Baschiera added 21 (38 balls), before the Warriors were bowled out in the 44th over for 155. Dave Huxter (3/21), Sam Graeber (3/29) and Matt Martin (2/23) led a very disciplined Lobethal attack. The Tigers got off to a great start in their run chase with Mitch Weeks and Tanner King adding 93 runs for the first wicket before Weeks departed for 56 from 57 balls (6 x 4’s).
