The game was tight throughout with Yankalilla taking a slender six-point lead into the last quarter. The Tigers kicked four goals to two in the final term to win 13.10 (88) to 10.10 (70). Karison Kantilla kicked four goals for ‘Yank’, while Ryan Sherry and Daniel Bass kicked three goals each for the Demons. Kalahni Howes and Teegan Mesecke kicked three goals each for Port Noarlunga, while Iona Parr kicked two goals for the Cobras. The Hawks trailed by 21 points at quarter time, but fought their way back into the contest to see scores level at halftime. The third term was tight with the Mudlarks taking a slender four-point lead into the last quarter. Urged on by their home crowd, Langhorne Creek kicked four goals to three in the final quarter to win 15.16 (106) to 15.9 (109). Caleb Howell kicked five goals for the Hawks, while Jarrod Kellock kicked three. Barossa Districts recruit Darren Shillabeer was a standout for the Mudlarks with 10 goals. Shillabeer has now kicked 37 goals for the season. Kellock, Howell, Matt Dominish, Henry Bruce, Darcy Paech and Adam Towk were named in the best players for Langhorne Creek. Happy Valley moved into the top-five on the Southern Football League (SFL) ladder after a 31-point win at Morphett Vale during round six action yesterday.The Vikings got off to a fast start to lead by 25 points at the first change, before Morphett Vale reduced the margin to 19 points at halftime. The third quarter would prove decisive as Happy Valley kicked six goals to one to take an unassailable 51-point lead into the last term. The Emus won the last stanza, but Happy Valley prevailed 14.12 (96) to 9.11 (65). Josh Dwyer-Sterzl kicked three goals for the Vikings, while Blake Carter and Max Sampson kicked two goals each for the Emus. Wisanger had 10 different goalkickers with Sam Clifford and Khyal Stead kicking six goals each. Eli Kuchel and Will Stanton were the goalkickers for the Roosters. Port Noarlunga moved to the top of the Southern Football League (SFL) ladder after defeating Morphett Vale by 24 points during round five action at Port Noarlunga today. The Cockle Divers led at every change to win 12.18 (90) to 10.6 (66). Clinton Calyun kicked three goals for ‘Porties’, while Jake Dorshorst and Thaddeus Puautjimi kicked two goals each for the Emus. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Brodie Smith, Eduard Van den berg, Aaron Peterson, Rhys Mckay, Charley Wiseman and Khalan Ortmann. Morphett Vale were best served by Dorshorst, Bailey Sowter, Dylan Miller, Connor Lock, Max Sampson and Khori Mills-Richardson.Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill inflicted Reynella’s first loss of 2024 after a come-from-behind 13-point victory at home today. Reynella raced out of the blocks to take a 23-point lead at the first change, and they still led by 11 points at halftime. The Falcons worked themselves back into the game, kicking six goals to three in the second half, to run out winners 11.10 (76) to 10.3 (63). Nathan Beenham kicked three majors for ‘Flaggies’ in a best-on-ground performance, as did Callan Semple for the Wine Flies. Other good players for the Falcons were Bradley Kirk, D’Arcy Mitchell, Kobe Cavouras, Zakaria Cavouras and Ethan Wildman. Cove Cobras moved up to second spot on the ladder after a big 195-point win against Noarlunga during round three action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Noarlunga yesterday. The Cobras led by 63 points at quarter time, 116 points at halftime, and 167 points at the last change before winning 30.15 (195) to 0.0 (0). Cove had 12 different goalkickers with Alesia LeDuff kicking seven majors to lead the way. Rebecca Jutilane-Maynard and Emily Risitano also chipped in with four goals each. Best players for the Cobras were Angelique Dean, LeDuff, Kate Galley, Rebecca O’Shaughnessy, Jaime Norup and Ella Gill. Best for the Shoes were Rikki-Lee Escritt, Talah Rigby, Sarah Stanbury, Febi Mansell, Kytanna Buckskin and Alice Worrall.Port Noarlunga won their second game of the season with a comfortable 92-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens. ‘Porties’ ran out winners 13.18 (96) to 0.4 (4). Jolande Winson kicked five goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Cockle Divers, while skipper Nikki Parker chipped in with three goals. Other good players for Port Noarlunga were Philippa Worthley, Bree Chapman, Zoe Flesfadar, Amber O’Hanlon and Shakira Dolman. The game was tight at quarter time with the Falcons holding a nine-point lead. The Falcons took over after the first change as they kicked eight unanswered goals to win 10.11 (71) to 1.2 (8). Jessica Couch kicked four goals for the Falcons, while Claire Wheeler was the sole goalkicker for the Hawks. Brooke Watson, Amber Cloughessy, Couch, Rachel Crockart, Nicole Mogg and Sasha Nancarrow were named best players for the Falcons.
