Myponga-Sellicks came from 13 points down at halftime to win their first game of the season by seven points against Victor Harbor during round 5 action in the Great Southern Football League ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition at Strathalbyn on Friday night. The Mudlarks kicked four goals to one in the second half to win 6.3 (39) to 5.2 (32). Brianah Kennewell kicked two goals for Myponga-Sellicks, as did Demi Morse for Victor Harbor. Best players for the Mudlarks included Lily-Rose Garner, Nari Wright, Imogen Harney, Sarah Stanbury, Courtney Gum and Kennewell. Victor Harbor’s best players were Jaimee Millard, Olivia Nobbs, Skye Kartinyeri-sumner, Lucy Rubie, Layla Woods and Morse. McLaren Districts consolidated their spot in the top-two following a 30-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay at Yankalilla yesewin was set up in the first quarter as the Eagles took a 20-point lead to the first break. The rest of the game was quite even as McLaren Districts won 5.7 (37) to 1.1 (7). Cadence Bryowsky kicked two goals for the Eagles, while Dani Brown kicked the only goal for the Stingrays. Josephine Hoare was named best for McLaren Districts and she was well supported by Esther Rayner, Mia Hamilton, Makenzie Bryowsky, Carly Vanderkwast and Kiera Harvey. Victor Harbor are the only undefeated side left in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) ‘A’ grade competition after defeating McLaren Districts by 20 points during round four action yesterday. ‘Victor’ set up the win with a good first half to lead by 25 points at the main break. The game was tight in the second half as the Roos won 11.7 (73) to 8.5 (53). Ben Heaslip, Sam Basham and Jackson Elmes all kicked two goals for the Roos, while Josh Vandermeer kicked three goals for the Eagles. Best players for Victor Harbor were Heaslip, Jaidan Kappler, Elmes, Michael Ross, Dylan Kleinig and Zac Dowling. McLaren Districts was best served by Vandermeer, Brodie Long, Lachlan Mathews, Codey Ellison, Brett Ellis and Jackson Daniels.Reigning premier Myponga-Sellicks won their second game of the season after defeating Langhorne Creek by 34 points at Myponga. Flagstaff Hill had 10 different goalkickers with Luke Edwards leading the way with three goals, while Mason Carney kicked two goals for Flagstaff Hill. Aldinga won their first game of the season after taking out a thriller by one point over Morphett Vale during round 3 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Morphett Vale on Anzac Day. Aldinga played an excellent first half to go to the long break with a handy 35-point lead. Morphett Vale came roaring back into the contest with seven goals to two in the third term as the Sharks’ margin was cut to just four points. The final quarter saw four goals to each team before Aldinga finally triumphed 17.6 (108) to 16.11 (107). Jack Langdon kicked four goals for Aldinga, while Brad Lang and Connor Lock also kicked four goals for Morphett Vale. Aldinga’s best players were Mitch Jarrett, Brodie Roesler, Izaih Wortley, Angus Stangewitz, Thomas Boreham and Langdon. After a winless 2024, the Magpies are on the board in what is a magnificent fillip for the club. Goolwa/Port Elliot made a fast start to lead by 20 points at quarter time, before Strathalbyn hit back in the second term to trail by just one point at halftime. The second half was a tight tussle with the Magpies prevailing 14.13 (97) to 14.7 (91). Carter Norman (4), Ryan Carnelly (3), Jye Bottroff (2) and Kai Iwao (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the jubilant Magpies, while Declan Grant kicked four majors for the Roosters.
