Reigning premier Wisanger consolidated their top-two spot on the ladder following a comfortable 49-point victory against Kingscote during round seven action in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) yesterday. The Panthers got out of the blocks quickly to lead by 31 points at quarter time, but it could have been a far greater margin as they kicked an inaccurate 5.9 to 1.2. Wisanger increased their lead to 36 points at halftime and 37 points at the last change, before winning 13.19 (97) to 6.12 (48). Jackson Lockett kicked four goals for Wisanger, while Nathaniel McDonnell kicked two goals for Kingscote. Dusty Cross was named best for Wisanger and he was well supported by Liam Sampson, Brok Viney-Obst, Jai Turner and Luke Shurven. Best for Kingscote included Rory Lovering, Jordan Connell and Lachlan Ingerson.Western Districts maintained top spot on the ladder after travelling to Parndana and coming away with a 71-point win. Aldinga won their second game of the season following an upset 10-point win against Cove during round seven action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition yesterday. Aldinga started well to lead by 13 points at quarter time and this lead would prove too hard for Cove to peg back as the Sharks eventually won 3.1 (19) to 1.3 (9). Darlene Bishop, Holly Wilde and Eilish O’Hanlon were the goalkickers for the Sharks, while Lauren Pattimore kicked the Cobras’ only goal. Eilish O’Hanlon, Kimberly Robinson, Jemma Looyestyn, Ayla Regione and Amber O’Hanlon were named best for Aldinga. Cove were best served by Dana O’Brien, Ella Gill, Ashleigh Need, Alesia LeDuff and Jasmine Dietrich.Flagstaff Hill consolidated second spot on the ladder with a tough 13-point win at Port Noarlunga. Willunga had to battle hard yesterday to keep their undefeated season alive during round nine action in the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League. The reigning premier hosted McLaren in a top-two clash which was tight throughout with scores level at quarter time and halftime. Willunga kicked six behinds in the third quarter and held McLaren scoreless to lead by six points at the last change. Neither team was able to score in tough conditions in the last term as Willunga held on to win 2.6 (18) to 2.0 (12). Caitlin Radbone, Cleo Guilfoyle, Tessa Kohn, Kristen Rothwell and Chelsea Farr were named best players for the Demons. Caitlin Ross, Sam Pratt, Sally Fuller, Tahlita Buethke and Ally Bailey were best for McLaren. Mount Compass won their third game for the season with a 24-point win against Victor Harbor. The final scores were Mount Compass 3.6 (24) to Victor Harbor 0.0 (0). Reigning premier Willunga were back in the winners circle on Saturday after defeating Victor Harbor by 39 points to reach the halfway point of the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) in third spot on the ladder. The first half was tight with the Demons leading by just nine points at the long break. They pushed on in the second half to kick six goals to two and win 14.16 (100) to 9.7 (61). Veteran Jake Standfield kicked three goals for Willunga, while Jackson Elmes also kicked three majors for Victor Harbor. Danny Juckers, Darcy Scott, Braden Altus, Brad Haskett and Brett Miegel were best for Willunga. Elmes, Ben Yeomans and Zachary Dowling were among the best players for ‘Victor’.McLaren Eagles have reached the halfway point of the season undefeated after their 28-point win against Encounter Bay. The Eagles were accurate all day as they kicked 12.2 (74) to 6.10 (46). James Grimley kicked three goals for the Eagles, giving him 30 majors for the season, while Jake Tarca and Nick Marshall kicked two goals each for the Bays. Cove Cobras pulled off their best win in a number of years following an upset 10-point win against reigning premier Flagstaff Hill during round nine action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Hallett Cove yesterday. In wet and windy conditions, the Cobras started well to lead by 23 points at quarter time. The first term would prove decisive as the Falcons tried to claw their way back into the game but ultimately came up short with Cove winning 8.14 (62) to 6.16 (52). Jayden Morton kicked three goals for Cove, while Nathan Beenham kicked two for Flagstaff Hill. Best players for the Cobras were Chris Buersch, Corey Jackson, Lincoln Holder, Brad Strapps and Aaron Wordsworth. ‘Flaggies’ were best served by Brad Kirk, Brad Patterson, Nathan Beenham, Ben Burbridge and Ethan Wildman.Aldinga also pulled off a big upset with a five-point win at Shark Park against an inaccurate Morphett Vale. Aldinga started well to lead by seven points at the first change. Morphett Vale dominated the second term, but could only kick 1.8, to lead by six points at halftime. Aldinga got back on top in the ‘premiership quarter’ as they kicked four goals to zero to take a handy 19-point lead into the last quarter. Morphett Vale again dominated but again kicked just 1.8 , while Aldinga were held scoreless, but the Sharks managed to hang on and win 6.7 (43) to 3.20 (38). Zach Young kicked two goals for Aldinga and Braden Ritter also kicked two goals for Morphett Vale. Best players for Aldinga were Angus Stangewitz, Luke Watson, Bailey Pilmore, Mitchell Jarrett and Brady O’Hanlon. Morphett Vale’s best included Scott Carpenter, Robert Schindler-Taylor and Julian Mardigan. Reynella completed the first half of the season undefeated after a come-from-behind win at Noarlunga. The Wine Flies trailed by 10 points at the last change before kicking six goals to two in the final term to win 8.8 (56) to 6.6 (42). Reynella's Callan Semple was the major goalkicker on the field with three majors, while Troy Johnson and Vic Robertson each kicked two goals for the Shoes. Nick McLean, Sam Whitbread, Brad Thompson, Cam McGree and Bailey England were best for the top-of-the-ladder Reynella. Noarlunga were best served by Bailey Snelling, Jarrad Lielbelt, Thomas Mott, Johnson and Nathan Schulz. Happy Valley moved to second spot on the ladder with a nail-biting four-point win against Christies Beach. The Vikings started well to lead by 18 points at the first change, but ‘Christies’ lifted in the next two quarters to take an eight-point lead at three-quarter time. Happy Valley steadied in the last quarter with three goals to one to win 7.7 (49) to 6.9 (45). Corey Grocock kicked three goals for Happy Valley, as did Nathan Stock for Christies Beach. Parndana won their second game of the season on Saturday after defeating Kingscote by 35 points during round six action in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL). James Davis kicked six goals for the Roosters in a best-on-ground display as Parndana won 13.10 (88) to 7.11 (53). Other good players for Parndana included Jack Sexton, Will Stanton, Bailey Gaskin and Trad McMulkin. Anthony Anderson kicked five goals for Kingscote, while other good players for the Hounds were Zak Siemer, Jordan Connell, Jack Grimes, Billy Goodwin and Rory Lovering. Western Districts maintained top spot on the ladder with a thumping 208-point win over Dudley United at Gosse. Strathalbyn won their fifth game of the season yesterday with a 23-point win over Victor Harbor to consolidate their spot in the top-four of the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League. In a low scoring affair at Encounter Bay, the Roosters won 3.6 (24) to 0.1 (1). Megan Rich, Tijana Jokic and Georgie Pater were the goalkickers for Strathalbyn, while the Roosters best players were Tess Huxtable, Heidi Groom, Pater, Tessa Grant, Katie Ehlers and Eliza Fergusen.McLaren Eagles remained in second spot on the ladder following their convincing 83-point win against Yankalilla at Willunga. McLaren led by 21 points at quarter time, 46 points at halftime and 55 points at the last change before winning 13.12 (90) to 1.1 (7). Sheena Peters was a standout up forward for the Eagles with five goals, while Layla Rogers and Hannah Georgeson chipped in with two goals each. Kimberley Rowe kicked the only goal for Yankalilla. Best for McLaren were Tiffany Copley, Georgeson, Ruby Flanagan-Sjoberg, Peters and Rogers. Port Noarlunga defeated Cove by 11 points to consolidate their position in the top-four during round six action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition yesterday. Cove led by five points at quarter time, before Port Noarlunga kicked three goals in the second term to lead by 16 points at halftime. The Cobras battled hard in the second half but ‘Porties’ were too strong as they ran out winners 4.6 (30) to 3.1 (19). Bree Chapman continued her good season to be named best for Port Noarlunga and she was well supported by Madison Harris, Sam Lynch, Belinda Gale and Ella Slape. Langhorne Creek defeated Willunga by one point yesterday to keep themselves in touch with the top-five after eight rounds of the Great Southern Football League (GSFL). Willunga hosted the Grand Final rematch with the home side starting the game as warm favourites. The ‘Creeks’ led by 11 points at halftime and extended their lead to a handy 17 points at the last change. Willunga came back hard in the last quarter but the Hawks had done enough to win 14.6 (90) to 14.5 (89). Coby Helyar kicked four goals for Langhorne Creek, while Brad Haskett also kicked four goals for Willunga. Best for the Hawks were Matt Dominish, Helyar, Matt Tonkin, Jack Keynes and Darcy Clifford. Willunga’s best were Brett Miegel, Haskett, Job Colwell, Lachlan Scott and Darcy Scott. Myponga/Sellicks’ dream start to 2022 continued yesterday as they accounted for Victor Harbor to the tune of 83 points at ‘Victor’. They were ably supported by Ryan Mountford (4) and Daniel Butcher (3). Ashley Baxter and Aaron Peterson kicked Port Noarlunga’s two goals. David Kearsley, Sam Tharaldsen, Blake Aldridge, Nathan Beenham and Mountford were best for Flagstaff Hill. The Shoes got off to a fast start with five goals to two in the first quarter to lead by 21 points at the first change. The Cobras were still in the game at the last change with the margin at 23 points, but a five goal to three final term saw the Shoes win 15.9 (99) to 9.11 (65). Vic Robertson led the way up forward for Noarlunga with four goals, while Scott Grieve and Jake McCreery kicked two goals each for Cove. Nick Mott, in just his second game for the season, was best on ground for the Shoes and he was well supported by Vic Robertson, Tom Mott, Jaidan Kappler and Nathan Schulz. Cove won their second game of the season after defeating Hackham by 135 points at Hackham Oval on Sunday. The win moved the Cobras into the top-four after five rounds of the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) ‘A’ grade competition. The Cobras led by 50 points at halftime and kicked a further 13 goals in the second half to win 20.15 (135) to 0.0 (0). Cove had 12 different goalkickers with Lauren Kenny and Alesia LeDuff kicking three goals each. The Cobras’ best players were Kenny, Jasmine Dietrich, Talia Saler, Rebecca O’Shaughnessy and Ashleigh Need. Olivia Cumming, Bronte McGrail, Caitlin Haire, Carol Karo and Holly Marsh were best for the Hawks.Reynella remained undefeated after winning their top-of-the-table clash with Flagstaff Hill by 30 points at Reynella on Sunday. Flagstaff Hill led by six points at quarter time, but Reynella were too strong in the other three quarters as they ran out winners 7.9 (51) to 3.3 (21). Kaiya Ivett and Samantha Lynch kicked Port Noarlunga’s goals, while Neriah Mills and Emily Risitano were the goalkickers for Christies Beach. Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill flexed their muscles to consolidate their spot in the top-five of the Southern Football League (SFL) after defeating Happy Valley by 43 points on Saturday. The game was all tied up at halftime but after the long break, the Falcons kicked seven goals to one to win 12.13 (85) to 6.6 (42). Aiden Grayson and Daniel Butcher kicked three goals each for ‘Flaggies’, while Ben Geytenbeek and Dwayne Ruddock each kicked two majors for the Vikings. Best players for Flagstaff Hill were Tynan Carney, David Kearsley, Luke Beenham, Brad Patterson and Nathan Beenham. Scott Rademacher, Joel Beeche and Kieren Bartlett were among the best players for Happy Valley. Noarlunga are up to second spot on the ladder following their 128-point win against Aldinga at Old Noarlunga on Saturday. The Shoes led by just four points after a low-scoring first quarter before they exploded in the second term, kicking nine goals to zero, to lead by 64 points at halftime.
